Japan Declares The Beginning Of The “Reiwa” Era

Japan’s emperor will voluntarily step down at the end of the month to end the “Heisei” (achieving peace) era.

This morning, Japanese officials announced the beginning of the “Reiwa” era once the new emperor Naruhito ascends the Chrysanthemum Throne.  More

According to the BBC, “The term for the new era is made up of the two characters Rei and Wa. Rei can mean “commands” or “order”, as well as “auspicious” or “good”.

Wa often means “harmony”, and is also used in the Japanese word for “peace” – “hei-wa”.” More

  1. I simply don’t understand asian culture, nor do I think that any nation that still retains an emperor in rhis day and age has advanced to the modern standard.
