Journalists are not supposed to be in the parade – IOTW Report

Journalists are not supposed to be in the parade

This is from an article written by Bernard Goldberg about the ridiculously skewed coverage of Trump (when he walked slowly down a ramp following his infamous West Point speech) and Biden (who is falling all over the place.)

-Roger Mudd, my former colleague at CBS News, who recently died at age 93, told an interviewer on Nov. 18, 2011: “A journalist’s job is not to march in the parade, but to stand on the curb and report what goes by. An awful lot of people think that we ought to be in the parade and not be a disinterested observer.”

Roger was onto something back then, but television news was more serious in his day and far less partisan than it is today. For too long now, especially after Trump was elected president, journalists have been marching in that parade without so much as a hint of embarrassment.

Roger Mudd was worried about a biased public trying to influence journalists. I’m worried about the opposite — biased journalists trying to influence the public.

  1. My Dad, 91 years old and a retired newspaper man, former reporter and editor, whole heartedly agrees with this. He’s had some epic rants over how Trump was treated in the media. This year, he stopped getting the local paper delivered, that he worked at for 32 years. “it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on” is his current comment.

  2. Everything is going parabolic.

Gov’t spending, money printing, asset prices, lies told by ‘journalists’, criminal acts by the fbi, everything.

I’m kind of glad. It is end of empire and collapse is coming and i’m eager for a startover. On our terms.

  3. The left vigorously denies Biden* has any cognitive or physical issues and becomes incensed when anyone points out the obvious. This charade cannot last. When Kuntmala finally takes over there will be speeches made and tears shed over the dear departed bumbling old fool. Then the real circus begins.

It might last longer than most think, as long as he can follow instructions to do what he is told and occasionally boosted enough to make a public comment or two he is serving their purposes well and there is no need to remove him.

  6. YOU KNOW HOW WE’RE ALWAYS ADDING WORDS TO THE DICTIONARY?? SHOULDN’T ALL VARIATIONS OF THE WORD “JOURNALISM” BE REMOVED, OR PERHAPS ONLY LEFT FOR REFERENCE AS SOMETHING THAT EXISTED ONLY IN THE PAST??

Agreed. I love God and family more than America anyway.

My ACHING ASS it can’t last. I gave the lockdowns and mask bullshit until April Fools Day 2020 before the rest of the population told the manipulative assholes running the show to go pound sand. That was 365 days ago and the sheep are still willingly being lead to slaughter.

Please define parabolic as used in that sentence. It doesn’t seem to fit your use according to my dictionaries.

Maybe hyperbolic fits to some degree.
