AFF– cursory analysis has determined that the pin and question is one known as the Blue Star Mothers Service Flag. The flag is authorized by the Department of Defense and is the official flag a family is with members that serve in the armed forces. Tim Kaine presumably is wearing the flag to remind Americans that he too has a son in the armed forces.
There’s just one wrong problem: the flag is meant to hang vertically and Kaine is wearing it horizontally. He has it on wrong!

This is silly nit-picking. There are tons of real objections to go on about. Yes, the flag is an indoor flag and should be displayed vertically in a front window. But TK isn’t wearing a flag, he’s wearing a lapel pin. Not the same.
