Kennedy Centers Honors Kevin Hart – There Are So Many Better Comedians

He does not make me laugh.

After rising from the open mics of Philadelphia to become, inexplicably, one of the most popular performers, comedian Kevin Hart will receive the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for lifetime achievement in American comedy.

Hart, now 44 years old, began his career as a youngster under the stage name Lil Kev in Philadelphia clubs like the Laff House. He stated that he once had a piece of chicken thrown at him on stage during one of his early stand-up performances and that he remembers the early shows as a run of harsh failures.

Gradually, Hart evolved a trademark style that made fun of his height, and featured a motormouth delivery. Now one of the most successful actors in the country, Hart has had 11 consecutive No. 1 box office debuts. His filmography has raked in almost $4.23 billion worldwide.

His movies are better than his stand-up. Yet, the Kennedy Center is honoring him as a comedian.

Boooo.

Even his commercials annoy me.

  1. Brother lost an Oscar gig and survived being cancelled after saying he didn’t want his son to turn out homosexual.

I’m not a fan and do not appreciate his humor either, yet he has my respect. Not unlike Robert Downey Jr, no one goes through what they endured and comes out liberal. Maybe to get along, but not on the inside, which is what counts.

  2. I’m so glad to see this because I couldn’t agree more. I mean, nothing personal but I just do not see what this guy’s appeal is. He’s annoying and hopelessly unfunny.
