A new poll shows that while Americans support the striking Hollywood writers and actors more than the studios, a clear majority of Americans either do not care or feel ambivalent about the situation.
Surveying 1,002 adult Americans between July 28-30, the Los Angeles Times/Leger poll showed that the striking writers and actors do not have majority support, even though 60 percent of those polled admitted they had “somewhat” of an understanding of the grievances due to mass media coverage. Only 38 percent of Americans polled sympathized with the strikers while just 7 percent sympathized with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
To be completely honest, I remember hearing about the strike a while ago when hubby had the nightly news on. Didn’t know it was still going. Who cares.
mostly over paid snobs playing at being real people. no, we could care less.
Way down toward bottom of my GAF list, just below women’s soccer.
I’ve been on strike against Hollywood for over 20 years. Glad to see that in a roundabout way they have finally come onboard. They will soon come to realize why their industry has been dying. Nobody likes their product.
A pox on both their houses!
Good. The more that HollyWierd is on strike, the less crap and pollution they can spew out.
@stirrin — Me, too, but there have been a few (very few) exceptions. The sequel Top Gun: Maverick wasn’t the usual H’wood crap; I enjoyed it. The other notable one is John Wick with Keanu Reeves. Awesome gunfights, and I almost never use the word “awesome” unless it is truly appropriate.
As for the current strike, you couldn’t find my total amount of GAF with a electron microscope.
@Al – I agree…there are always exceptions to the rule, Top Gun Maverick being one of them. And I heard that John Wick was good also. I’m sure there are others as well, but when, as a provider of a product, you piss me off, you’ve lost a customer for good.
I am more concerned that AI will be used against the non-Hollywood types to destroy our jobs, destroy our lives, create evidence to be used against us, create evidence to be used against the political candidates we support (for some reason), etc. Being entertained without employing real human beings that can’t keep their mouths or their pocketbooks shut regarding destroying my freedoms and liberties wouldn’t be all that bad.
MrLiberty,
I read something that made me go … hummmm. The strike by the actors is about AI taking over their jobs; at least that’s what they say.
What someone postulated was that most of these actors have been compromised by visiting Epstein’s Island, and the many other Islands that traffic children for sex and torture. They know that they are on tape somewhere and are fearful of it getting out.
NOW, they will be able to say (when the tapes are released), “See, we warned you about AI taking our jobs. That’s not me, it’s AI!”
As a result of the strike the average IQ has gone up 11.26%. I’m thinking the strike has been good for America.
Oh noes! Where EVAH will we get our next pointlessly race-swapped, woke mutilated rehash of a once beloved and meaningfully uplifting story that was told FAR better the FIRST time?!?
The more damage to that leftist, perverted pedophle enclave Hollywood, the better.
BTW, I just watched the South Korean movie The Wailing. Not everyone likes subtitles but nonetheless, it was a really good movie. Highly recommend. Spiritual warfare
The price of adrenochrome and unregistered children is way up.
Just can’t get by on $8 Million a year anymore.
I hope the strike ends so I can begin distribution of my new film “Barbie vs. Cocaine Bear.” Barbie becomes woke and gains a new understand of what it means to be under the thumb of the patriarchy. Ken, who already has no genitals, becomes even more emasculated in order to gain Barbie’s approval. And then concaine bear mauls and eats Barbie, Ken and all of their friends.
The problem is that the film is now only 7 minutes long, and I need more pointless woke filler. Maybe cocaine bear can also undergo a journey of personal understanding which involves looking for its personal pronouns before flying into a drug induced rage and eating everyone.
My next door neighbor’s son is a cinematographer. He has been scrimping and saving to put together enough money for a condo. When the strike hit it was almost time to renew his apartment. He was planning on buying a condo. That has been put on hold. He put his stuff in storage and moved back in with his parents. He has been cutting grass a couple of days a week and he and his school teacher girlfriend have been going all over the state documenting the covered bridges. His goal is to have a documentary series on all of the covered bridges in GA.
@Wyatt
The bear starts to believe he’s a girl, or if it’s a girl bear, believes it’s a boy bear. If he/she doesn’t get the operation, he/she gets very depressed and starts on a diet of fentanyl. He/she roams around Wal-Marts taking anything he/she wants, especially liquor. Then, he molests a little human female and her father shoots the bear dead. Liberals cry an ocean of tears for the poor bear and call for confiscation of all firearms, arrows, knives, spears, razors, wooden skewers and anything that could possibly hurt our bear friends.
That should get you to the standared 90 minutes for a movie.
What strike?
@Uncle Al
I respect your take on Maverick. I thought it was junk. The only good thing were the aerial acrobatics.
Here’s my seven cents:
1.It was a war buddy film – they start off hating each other, then one saves the other’s life, then they’re best buds. Supposed to give us the good feels. Not to me. Hollywood has been all over that theme since the silent era. Trite.
2. In the beginning, he crashes into the desert on a test run and wonders into a coffee shop, where everyone drops what they are doing to stare at him. Cringe-worthy.
3. The writers/directors had the Iranian thing-ma-bob in a canyon with no soldiers guarding it and not even a fence around it. Also, it was above ground…why would any military force put it above ground just waiting for a group of Special Forces/Seals to sneak into the canyon and destroy it? Makes no sense.
4. The Iranians sent up only a token force of fighters to confront Maverick’s crew. Other than that, they had some ineffective missile launchers – overall they had an extremely weak defense for something so militarily crucial for them.
5. US bombers could have taken out the thing from 40,000 feet. Easy. No fuss, no sweat. But no, Ho-wood tried to make a good war story out of a stupid, ridiculous plot, and failed miserably, IMO.
6. With all the above the movie had a final stake through its heart by including a dumb and unnecessary love story. Side love stories are the bane of war movies.
7. At the end of the movie, the little girl of the mom Maverick is involved with says: “Don’t hurt her again”. Cringe-worthy.
What a load of Bull-Shit. A zillion miles from reality. It was a colossal waste of my time, and I don’t have tons of that left.
I’ve made my peace with popular culture (Hollywood, music etc.). Most of what I consume are products that I have already purchased and archived. I’m also smart enough to hoist the jolly roger if there’s something I want but don’t feel the need to add it into my physical collection. I have a couple of streaming services that I choose to keep active because there is still some value to me. When the value goes away, so does the service. Beyond that, what goes on in that world does not affect me in the least.
I hear the late night talk shows are showing repeats. Can’t expect Coal Bear or The Jimmies to write their own material. Schmucks.
Strike huh. What strike? Sorry, a couple doors down an old lady’s cat didn’t come home when called. So, there was a strike huh? Who’s on strike this time? Aw dang, let me get back to ya. The little guy next door had a shit-fart-separator malfunction in the car and it sounds like his mom is going to have one also. Anyone else have dogs and yellow grass spots? Sorry. My bad. You were saying something about Lucky Strikes? I don’t smoke.
They greatly overestimate their own importance, imho. They can f off and die for all I care.
