Maldives Bans Israelis From Entering

One country has changed course, while others are showing more and more solidarity with the Gaza Strip’s Palestinian population in the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict. The Maldives has reportedly barred Israeli citizens from entering the Indian Ocean archipelago. The office of President Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the country’s laws would be changed to reflect this policy, according to the AP. A press statement from Muizzu’s office states that the procedure will be overseen by a Cabinet panel.

Israeli officials urged their countrymen not to visit the Maldives following Sunday’s announcement of the ban. “It is recommended to consider leaving since if they fall into distress for any reason, it will be difficult for us to help,” the ministry said of any islanders who choose to remain. The Associated Press reports that in 2023, over 11,000 Israelis, or around 0.6% of all visitors, went to the Maldives.

  1. Maldives – a bad day for scuba divers?

Whatever. I’m taking Maldives off my tropical vacation list for excluding Israelis. In actuality, it was never on my list. Hawaii works for me.

Let a billion used condoms wash up on Maldives beaches. Poop from Gaza too.
