WT: For the first time, the California state parole board has voted to free one of the principal accomplices of Charles Manson in the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders.
Leslie Van Houten was recommended for parole Thursday in her 20th request before the Board of Parole Hearings, which will review its decision and then send its recommendation on to the governor.
However, Van Houten is not free yet, as the approval of Gov. Jerry Brown is not a pro forma matter. more here

Ugh! Those damn beer ads are turning me against this site and I will never buy the product. The fact that they appear is not so irritating, as that you are forced to wait for the ‘x’. Way too much.
I understand the need for financial help and I would not mind them, so much, if they were transparent, like their background.
47 years later. So, how is / will she be when/if released? And what skills will she have to support herself?
Reminding me of the later scenes from “Shawshank Redemption”, where Red (Morgan Freeman), after innumerable appeals before the parole board, instead of playing nicey-nice, finally says “fuck it, you’re going to do what you’re going to do, I don’t give a damn any more”. And they approve his release.

If so she should have been put down long ago.
Nothing screams “justice” like seeing someone who was sentenced to death get their term reduced to “life” to seeing them get parole. (for the record that was a bit of sarcasm)

Well it took a long time, but after all, the California state parole board can’t be just be freeing a bunch of prisoners and letting them run around helter-skelter…

the baby could have been saved if discovered earlier, but died due to sharon’s exsanguination
She’s 66, and has earned several college degrees at the taxpayers expense. She will continue to live off of the taxpayer as she is not hireable any where even with her degrees. She’s of SS age, but doubtful she’ll collect anything as she has no work experience and did not earn it. She’s better off staying in prison.

manson and co used to hang out there, since there was a beach living on the premises, and they hung out with him (manson wanted to be a musician)
i was just a kid, but thought of them as seedy and weird druggies, my distance was kept as i lived in the stable area, away from the house area

If they let her out, maybe someone will stab her multiple times. That would be fair.

She probably has a job waiting for her in the California Department of Corrections counseling inmates for $150,000 a year. I have an acquaintance that has always been nuts. She went to an extremely liberal school (Evergreen State College) and got a degree in art therapy. She is now making six figures in California getting inmates to draw what they feel in an attempt to reach their troubled souls and help them heal. What a load of crap!

What is wrong with the justice system…Really, stabs and holds down and mutilates and liked what she was doing and given the death penalty…whoops then life…and well, just let her out on society. Those people are all nuts who gave in. Let one of their family members get tortured and murdered like this, or one of them!! Bet they would think differently!!
