McSocialism – IOTW Report

McSocialism

A bunch of Bernie staffers have started a campaign to take back congress.  Called the “Brand New Congress,” they are currently looking for regular people who are respected in their communities but have never run for office.  Once recruited they’ll provide a standardized message and centralized fundraising.  All the recruit has to do is take the message and run with it in their district.

It reminds me of a franchise operation where the franchisor provides the advertising and business system to the franchisor, only the payoff here would ultimately be political control of congress.

  1. The Tea Party already tried that. They were never very successful. In CO it ended badly with Dan Maes who lucked into winning the GOP Gov spot in 2010 after the chosen establishment guy was found to have plagiarized and angry voters used the primary to nominate anyone else. He turned out to be a total wacko with a sordid background and wouldn’t step down so Tancredo ran 3rd party and Maes almost got under 10% which would have meant the GOP would not be a main party in CO. And now we are on the second term of Hickenlooper. So I say go for it, encourage them. If conservatives can’t do it Berners sure as hell won’t be able to but it could be very entertaining. Like the transexual that ran against Mike Lee in Utah.

  2. Reasons this will not work:

    1. They want political neophytes, but what is unstated is that they must be socialists. They have misinterpreted Trump’s election as the general public wanting political newbies – Trump actually won because he has a successful track record in the private sector and demonstrated uncommon political saavy even though he has never run for office before. It would be difficult to find 4 socialist leaning individuals with these qualifications – much less 400.

    2. These people would essentially be a third party running against Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats, in particular, would fight tooth and nail against these folks because they would take votes away from their base.

    3. They want socialists. Urban/college town democrats are already de facto socialists, and socialism does not play well outside of urban/college town areas.

    4. Money. This undertaking would cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and I think even progressives like George Soros are too saavy to throw money at this idea.

But I wish them good luck. The Republican party will be rooting for them.

  3. Well they do need to gut Congress at least from the top down.

Starting with what passes for leadership. Taxpayers should not have to support the McConnells and Ryans, and all those other rich weirdos and their donors. Let them mow lawns on weekends to make extra cash.

Not one more cent from the American taxpayer that does not benefit the American taxpayer in some way.

  4. Bernie the leader (and Soros puppet) of subversives called socialists. They have bubbled to the political surface to distract and undermine the Trump administration. Period.
They are not the genies they appear to be – that’s the democRats aka money brokers of the left.
