Mike Lindell’s free speech social network will ban certain posts

He’s not big on taking the Lord’s name in vain and the n-word, the f-word, the c-word…

Hmm.

Thoughts?

  2. There are some things that need not be written.
But he shouldn’t mischaracterize it as a “free speech” social network if it isn’t.
“Free” means free – and all the ugliness that carries with it.

    izlamo delenda est …

  3. There was a time not long ago when profanity was frowned upon and used very seldom in the public. People got along much better back then too.
Blame George Carlin and Richard Pryor.

  4. So long as the rules are posted up front, don’t change, and aren’t subject to somebody else’s interpretation on acceptable posts, I wouldn’t mind. The problem with twitter, facebook, etc. is that their rules are subject to change without notice, and is based upon their whims.

  5. He’s making a mistake. He’ll have Muslims complaining about insulting their religion every time reference is made to a jihadi. He will get himself boxed into a corner over which/what words in which/what language are “offensive”. I hope he rethinks.

  6. They should ban posts that call Biden president and posts that call Harris vice president. Frauds that they are.
Pelosi and Schummer and other Democrats should be referred to as that POS.

  7. Simple, understandable, rules that if Lindell wants to put in place it’s not unreasonable.

And i use the words f***, c*** And God damn.

You wait to an asshole tries make a deal over it lol

  8. There are already too many boards/chat’s forums etc.. with policy that way. It’s not free speech. The complaints persons will claim will never end, and the censoring becomes normalized with more and more speech rule policies.

My country is being usurped by selfish, self serving, lying, greedy, control freak, assholes. Can’t censor me off the keyboard, and I voice my opinions all the time in public so…

  9. If the rules are clearly listed. (none of that vague violating community standards) If the rules are consistently enforced. (no longer allowing some people to break the rules while punishing others for the same or lesser acts) Then it should be acceptable.

    Blame the left…..

  11. I don’t have a problem as it’s addressing the issue of decency and decorum and it’s stated up front. It’s quite another thing to arbitrarily ban or censor people for disagreement and for ideas which aren’t “convenient” to a particular narrative, which is what the others are doing.

  12. He’s paying for it; he can make whatever rule he wants… but, it’s not free speech. This will be the problem with Trump’s wasted effort too (when it appears): disparaging words about rag-head terrorism, queers, race-baiting nigger politicos, nigger on Asian crime… it will all be banned in the name of ‘being nice’ to one another… as will this post. Oh the irony…. I do like Lindell’s merchandise, though.

  13. The pillow man is paying for the use of the space. He has every right to say what tunes can be played. If you don’t like, go some where else.Someone said “Profanity is the weapon of a weak mind”, Dam I can’t remember who it was.

  14. I don’t have any problem with it. There are times that I want to reTweet, repost or whatever it’s called at all the new sites, but I stop because it has foul language. It will be refreshing to read posts that actually use grown-up words to make their point without sounding like a @&%$@#$ idiot!

  15. It is his site so it’s his business how he runs it, but that’s not free speech. And if he’s already making exceptions to free speech I’m betting it doesn’t end with 4 swear words.

  16. What T Town said.
I am not fond of those words either although I have on rare occasion said WTF and ever more rarely used crunt and c*nt. I do not use the ‘N word’ or say various other racial and ethnic slurs except Russian slurs on the forum ‘Squatting Slavs in Track Suits’. Growing up my father lectured me on why we don’t use these terms and it’s something I never forgot.

I wonder how he will handle history references that may contain the hakenkruz or runes? Most of my activity on FB was WW I and WW II forums and millions of cats. The hakenkruz and runes are banned on FB yet the hammer and sickle is allowed on any forum, as well as, Antifa symbols and slobbering praise.

I just got socked with a permanent FB ban in response to a Resident video in which he said he is ‘happy to hear white people will be a minority in 2044’. My response was ‘he is a senile old self-hating white man’. Except it was in German on a Norwegian forum for conservative politics in Norway, Germany and the US. That got me a permanent ban which FB decided today should be only a 3 day ban. WTF!

I will probably give it a try to see how it navigates and if there can be different forums. Also may give Mewe a try since many friends went there.
We all know that the Bidenophiles and p*ss stream media will proclaim it a white supremacist hate site without even seeing it.

    BTW I love ‘My Pillow’

  17. He’s just living out his faith. And to be honest, Christian shouldn’t be using those words anyway. The Bible tells us that out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. And another thing Free Speech isn’t free. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do something do something. That’s why we’re in the mess we’re in. When people stop to think about their obligation to society, rather than just what Society owes them, our society will change. For the better.

    13
  18. I don’t fall into the social networks trap anyway. As long as he is consistent and treats everybody with the same rules I don’t see what the problem would be. I won’t be using it regardless.

  19. good. I can sit here and listen to praise music or preaching while scrolling past language on GAB that curls my dogs fur so much he looks like a poodle.

so, yah, thanks my pillow guy

  20. He’s not the only one doing it. Plenty of other sites are, too (including some lefties). If you don’t cuss then you wouldn’t fuckin’ notice now would you. lol

I was on a social site not too long ago that didn’t allow cussing (there’s always a way around it, btw) but I didn’t quit because of that.

  21. So how does his attempt at controlling the speech of others make him any different than the left?
I like Mike OK, and it’s his site and he makes the rules, but I’ll bet peer pressure works better.

  22. Freedom of speech is a govermental federal law…not a forums…it’s up to the host or the provider to the host…

    And speech…as we understand it…is dying…

  23. A rule that has served me well, do not say anything on line that you would not say to your mother, learned that years ago.
By and by, Fur and I were just talking about this a few weeks ago, the first part of our comment shows up on the main page, that is his welcome mat (Plus the Content) to have others join in.
If a comment starts off with F this and F that it will turn many people away, but you say who cares about them you are missing the point, we want people to read what Fur,MJA,Dr. Tar and Miss Claudia have to say.
What we say here matters, this site reaches many many people even those who do not comment.
We all need to treat this site as if it is our own because one way our another it is.
We are part of the Face of iOTW

  24. Every single person here arguing that it’s “Lindell’s site” are making FB and twatter’s defense.

Once you start making language rules, there is no way that does not go out of control. There are just too many. (Can I just say “fuck” then in another language?) It becomes impossible. Let the “community” shout down those who are out of line.

  25. Attack Lindell on his site. If they let you stay, if they don’t disappear your post, then you most likely won’t have a problem.

Keep in mind. If a person’s site is set up to where they are very dependent on certain advertisers who have certain conditions, (ie ads from churches, military, law enforcement, schools, baby products…) they will pull their ads from your site if they see cuss words or nudie pics. If you are rated ‘family friendly’, then you have to act like it. Not so much what you’re saying but what you’re using to say it.
I don’t know if Lindell will have outside advertisers soon. Who knows.
But that’s an example of why people do the shit they do.

Free speech doesn’t include child pornography and death threats. [Or SPAM from foreign drug companies. lol]
Funny that twitter and fb leaves that alone but bans people for saying biden is mentally imcompetent. Which he is.

  26. Whatever the Constitution of this great country deems acceptable as free speech, is what Mike should allow.
Anything less opens the door for someone to use their power of censorship to put forward a particular narrative, as we see in most left wing supported venues today.
