KEIB: A California woman who hired somebody to take online classes for her son was sentenced to five weeks behind bars. Karen Littlefair, 57, was busted as part of “Operation Varsity Blues,” which revealed a massive scheme in which wealthy parents arranged to cheat on college admissions tests and bribe college officials to help their children get into the elite universities.
Prosecutors said that Littlefair’s son ended up on academic probation at Georgetown University in 2017. To ensure that he graduated in 2018, she enlisted the services of William “Rick” Singer, who was the ringleader of the scheme, to have somebody else take four online classes for her son. more

Karen Little-is-fair never figured out only politicians are legally permitted to cheat and steal.
They’re the smarter class of organized crime family. Unlike the loose lipped arrested mafioso of today, they are faithful to the old school code of silence they don’t rat out each other, but if one of them is caught and looks like they might rat, they soon conveniently commit suicide, unwillingly but they succeed with assistance.
I can see kicking him out of the school, or revoking his diploma, etc… But jail seems a little absurd.

“academic probation” is a polite way of saying flunking out.
She tried to cheap out….for $12K she could have gotten the Summa Cum Laude package where her little darling could have not only gotten off academic probation, he could also win a department prize for excellence. Just like Joe Kennedy didn’t want to pay for a bigger landslide for JFK than they needed, she didn’t want to pay a premium for a mediocre result that her dolt offspring couldn’t do on his own.

In India you can get a Comp-Sci degree for less than that. The degree is not worth the paper it’s printed on. Then go to the US on an H-1B Visa and steal a job from a fully accredited white person that spent $200,000+ on education. It’s been going on in my industry for 30+ years.
