NASA has struck deals with two commercial teams to provide the spacesuits destined for use when astronauts return to the moon by as early as 2025 — and there’s an extra twist that might have sounded alien to the Apollo moonwalkers a half-century ago. This time, NASA won’t own the suits.
Under the terms of the contracts issued for Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services, or xEVAS, Collins Aerospace and Axiom Space will own the spacesuits. They’ll also be free to explore non-NASA commercial applications for the data and the technologies they develop in partnership with NASA.
NASA will purchase services from Collins and Axiom to fill the space agency’s spacewalking (and moonwalking) needs through 2034. The contracts have a combined maximum potential value of $3.5 billion, with the actual payout for each company determined by how NASA divvies up its task orders. More
Kind of like hiring the lowest bidder to make equipment that you need to stay alive.
Meh. It’s a Communist government now and Communist end up taking over the means of production anyway, so it’s not like the government won’t end up owning those companies too, sooner or later…
…but we now have a government you can’t trust to not inject you with crippling and lethal compounds while lying to you about a disease THEY invented.
Pretty sure I don’t trust them IN SPACE…
On the plus side: In space, you can’t hear a liberal screech.
My father-in-law engineered the space suit gloves and their locking/sealed interface to the sleeves back in the 60’s. I think even the new suits still use that basic design.
This is the end, my only friend, the end, it hurts to set you free, but you’ll never follow me, the end of laughter and soft lies, the end of nights we tried to die, this is the end….
The good news is they guarantee irate jilted female astronauts will still be able to drive from TX to AL to commit murder without the need for bathroom breaks.
Rentals…I hope they use a reputable dry cleaner. Cooties in space!
Damn things will be covered with wine stains and stretched seams because a previous renter will have vainly insisted they’re a smaller size than they actually are.
50 years ago, NASA put MEN on the Moon. Now, they send hormonal bints up who drill holes in spacecraft walls.

Conflicting missions. Woke NASA now has to let Muslim trans-“women” serve as astronauts. Can’t figure out what kind of urine collection devices to use, and don’t know to make a Burka that is air-tight.
In space they can’t hear you cackle.
I want in on designing the cummerbunds for the new spacesuits.
…out of curiousity, what happened to all those Muslim engineers that Barky’s boi was supposed to be reconfiguring NASA to service as an instrument of Mulsim outreach? Didn’t they invent numbers and algebra and stuff, isn’t that what we’ve been told the last 20 years or so?

Why don’t THEY design some spacesuits?
…which could get interesting if they know they are designing them for use by infidels…
Great grift for leftist contractors. It’s only TAXPAYER money. . .
Are Collins Aerospace and Axiom Space
either owned or operated by muslim or chinese entities.
Exactly what are the economic ties of these companies
to the Biden and Clinton families?
The patented muslim design includes the varient for their goat girlfriends/sex objects with the velcro opening for their pleasure and easy access. Aloha snackbar bitches.
No way that flimsy sack shown on the Apollo fake missions would be any kind of flexible in a hard vacuum. Look at the published schematic of the backpack. A Joke. Lead acid batteries, wire harness and relays.
No one ever wore that in a vac chamber, much less on the Moon.
Should have given the project to Space X if they wanted it done right. I’m some what shocked Collins Aero is still in biz.
The obama damage continues
Beam me up….
