  1. I saw it mentioned that this is unconstitutional (I think they mean NC state constitution) – that all children are to be provided free education.
    If school is mandatory for minors, and there is no cost-free schooling available,… Hmmmm, shades of 0bamacare – mandatory and more expensive than what was previously available. Interesting how socialism actually costs more.

  2. It sounds like a rash of home schooling may break out in that region! What ha[[ens to the tax money already confiscated from homeowners for education? You will never hear the word refund.

    Exactly right. The applicable parts of the NC constitution (gently edited for clarity):

    NORTH CAROLINA STATE CONSTITUTION

    ARTICLE I — DECLARATION OF RIGHTS
    Sec. 15. Education. The people have a right to the privilege of education, and it is the duty of the State to guard and maintain that right.

    ARTICLE IX — EDUCATION
    Sec. 2. Uniform system of schools.
    (1) The General Assembly shall provide by taxation and otherwise for a general and uniform system of free public schools
