A favorite sound/feel of mine was turning on the TV or Radio.
We had a pull knob on the TV and once pulled it would make a blint sound and you would wait for the CRT to warm up and come on.
The radio had a little detent that had to be overcome to turn on.
Opening a can of Pringles for the first time also made a unique noise.
Jiffy-pop on the stove…

Shag earth tone carpeting. For people that did not own a vacuum cleaner and had pets.

Beans, they don’t seem to have the same horsepower anymore. Maybe it’s the GMO affect. Got to reduce methane ya know.

I had that flooring on the far right at one point.

I used to prop my tape recorder in front of the TV speaker and record episodes of Battlestar Galactica.
Never had a Walkman.

Ahh, I remember the old 2 prong outlets….having to unplug my stereo amp and turn the plug over to stop the sudden hum.

I could walk into a room and could immediately tell if a TV was on because I could hear the horizontal scan frequency if 15734Hz. Not now because flat screens don’t use that type of scanning anymore and because my ears have suffered from nature’s Dolby kicking in with old age!

TRF- We had a B+W tv in the basement and it had a tone just like the tinnitus I now hear all the time. Good times.

Gurgling bong noises….

TRF – That’s how I could tell if the high voltage problem was before or after the oscillator.
I remember before we had indoor toilet and bathtub
It’s way better now
But we always had TV
Bubbling of my electric water pipe
Ghost of Burner – I just used my tongue.
If it jumped up and flapped around like someone let go of a roll-up window shade I figured it had high voltage!
As kids, my older sister & me were the remote control for my old man. My mother’s kitchen had linoleum that looked just like the one second left in the above picture. Horrendous fashion, as well!!! God, I miss the old days.
the sound of coffee percolating on the stove
the sound of \’Pops\’ sipping coffee from a saucer
the sound of cracking open the ice in the ice tray
the sound of metal roller skates on the sidewalk
baseball cards flapping in the spokes of your Schwinn Sting Ray
the jingle of the milk bottles the Milk Man drops off in the metal insulated box on your front porch
the hand mixer that mom used to make cake & pancake batter
the sound of a cap gun
the sound of a roll of caps hit w/ a hammer on the sidewalk
Big Wheels on the sidewalk
the sound of the test pattern
the ding-ding of a gas pump
the sound of inserting a nozzle into a quart of oil
the sound of a church key piercing a beverage can
the sound of the next record dropping on the spindle
the sound of a match being lit
the sound of a Zippo lighter being lit
the sound of a push mower
the sound of corduroy pants
chalk on a chalk board
the clapping of erasers
the sound of nylons
the sound of kneading the dough & rolling it out w/ a rolling pin
the sound of the fan running in the upper hallway window on hot summer nights
the sound your sister makes when she discovered you dismantled her metal roller skates to nail to a 2×4 to make a skateboard
