A New York judge fined a landlord $17,000 for threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on a tenant who was in the country illegally.

Holly Ondaan, 48, lived in Dianna Lysius’ Jamaica, Queens property dating back to 2011, but she stopped paying her rent, according to the Wall Street Journal. Lysius started the eviction process for her tenant in January 2018.     property is no longer worth your time, effort
    or risk. The bums and deadbeats own you with
    the full force of the corrupt law and worse judges.

  2. Former slumlord here. I would still call ICE and make that deadbeat apartment-squatting POS illegal alien GTFO.

    Make the law your bitch: I had a situation where a Shoobie bought the house next door to mine. Immediately calls the city to complain about my dog barking. Didnt come to me first and politely talk to me about it. Takes me to court. So I looked at his place from the street and the alley and immediately noticed over a dozen code enforcement violations. Called Code Enforcement on him. Meanwhile, I’d always made sure my place was Teflon-coated so assholes like this or tenants couldnt make trouble for me.

  3. I got out of the apartment business just in time even though Texas will allow you to evict in about 90 days after the hassle. However, , in just one project of 160 units, plumbing and appliances plus wiring were removed at a rate of about 2 units per week…sold to make rent or buy drugs. This put me in front of the code violation people and I faced fines with no real limit for not providing basic requirements for the abused tenants. I learned to go to weekly rent and remove the door for “repairs” every Saturday a renter failed but even that was under attack by local lawyers . So, I sold out and never looked back..I mention this to point out that new rent control laws, Social Justice judges , crazy drugged tenants and illegals above the law will destroy rental supply and we can expect the Government to fill the void as in the ’60s only this time the crime infested units will be put in upper class neighborhoods if they vote Republican. Investors must also avoid falling for subsidized housing because the Government will turn you into a felon before you last two years…another story but Bureaucrats live to ruin investors..
