MRCtv: Last week, in one of his final moves out of the Oval Office, Obama executively designated more than 1.5 million acres of land as national monuments, preserving their untouched façade while closing them to human expansion, development, energy use, ranching or state or local jurisdiction.
In a move ignored by the liberal media last week, Obama unilaterally seized more than 1.3 million acres from Utah to establish the Bears Ears Monument, preserving it at the behest of conservationist groups and Native American tribes who claimed the land was sacred. Utah’s state legislature, however, opposed the unilateral land grab across party lines, with many speculating that Obama’s move is the latest in an attempt to limit efforts from incoming President Donald Trump to expand domestic energy production.
Obama also claimed 300,000 acres in Clark County, Nevada, as the Gold Butte National Monument, effectively closing the area off to future development for uranium mining, oil drilling or natural gas production. MORE

I had a vibrant discussion going about this last week on my Facebook post, and learned some things too. Clinton and W also created a lot of large monuments at the last minute, although Bush’s were relegated to regions of the Pacific that don’t have much activity (and I don’t understand how the US ‘owns’ the Marianas Trench. I still don’t like it – and the original intent was to protect unique natural formations like Devil’s Postpile (the first national monument), not vast swaths of land.

Why the federal government can simply declare themselves owners of vast quantities of land has always infuriated me. The new sec of interior should release the lands for sale to the private sector at discount prices.
Some lands need to be held for military bases and valid national parks. Some for r&d, some for other valid reasons like yucca mountain.
Other than that back off and butt out. Feds own something like 92% +/- of Nevada. Why?
Balance the budget by selling federal property.
I say use the same tactics. Sorry Barry, that presidential library is going to have to go elsewhere, that area is now a national monument- TRUMP National Monument. Also, everything around that property on Hawaii you were thinking of, also a National Monument. Declare the entire state of California protected National Monument-because where else are we gonna find Condor breeding ground? Think of the Delta Smelt! Burn these grifters with their own torches.
None of this land was in Texas, as Texas only agreed to join the US if it could retain possession of all public lands. Screw you, Obama!

This is all part of Agenda 21, now known (optimistically, on the part of progressives) as Agenda 2030. The re-naming of the initiative to Agenda 2030 indicates the timeframe in which progressives thought they would achieve their ends — a mere 14 years from now. The Agenda 21 plan calls for: vast swaths of the US to be uninhabited, permanently set aside; people to be concentrated in cities in stack-em-and-pack-em housing; public transportation for all/car ownership only for elites; everyone enjoying right to “culturally appropriate food.” I did not understand the “culturally appropriate food rights” at first….like what? Midwesterners have a right to corn on the cob? Southerners have a right to grits? Then I realized it meant halal food. In other words, you are a hater if you complain about the goat being slaughtered at the curb of your apartment building or the halal meat your kids are force fed at school.
Agenda 21 or 2030, whatever you want to call it, is just part of the blueprint for the OneWorld Government, and Obama is just doing his part to set the stage as he winds up his term (along with lots of other damage). I hope Trump can undo it all.
Quick question…So Presidents have seized all this land. I was listening to Mark Levin tonight and past presidents have seized massive amounts of land federally. Donald trump needs to return this land back to the states.
There’s a bunch of ranchers in Utah that are pissed. They get cattle leases and graze on public land. They’re crying all over the Internet. Try and hunt on the leases land. They’ll throw you off like they owned it. So I’m not feeling too sorry for them. What Obama is doing needs to be stopped though. It’s bull shit.
Return public lands to the states. Nothing else will do.
