Opposition Attends This Week’s “Jesus Lunch”

Freedom From Religion showed up at this week’s “Jesus Lunch” at Middleton High School and did what they could to get students to protest and disrupt the event.

Middleton Police stated that they would monitor behavior of the crowd but that the free lunch event would be allowed to continue for the rest of the school year.

Looks to me like everyone had a chance to peacefully express their 1st amendment speech rights, though of course members of the left tried to chant shout down those defending the lunches. Video

School officials took measures to try to block the organizers and discourage them from hosting further lunches. The organizers came prepared with a response of their own.

  1. Good for the Christian mothers for standing up and standing firm. Good for the police department for behaving as Peace Officers instead of LEOs.
Supe Johnson, on the other hand, needs to have his johnson repeatedly kicked and stomped, but not punched. It’s too difficult to bend down that far.

  2. Why does an organization such as Freedom From Religion Foundation exist anyway? Is there a Freedom from Santa Claus, or a Freedom From The Tooth Fairy organization? I get it – FFR people do not believe God exists, but the fact that other people believe differently affects them not at all.

FFR people claim Christians make them feel uncomfortable. Maybe, but Christians aren’t clamoring for laws forcing people to believe in God and Jesus Christ, and if you truly believe God doesn’t exist then there is no rational reason to feel uncomfortable. And even if there were reasons to feel uncomfortable, there is no right to peace of mind.

Look, the organizers of the Jesus Lunch don’t have baptismal fonts at the gates, nor do they check for Christian membership cards or require that anyone recite the Nicene Creed before getting food. Show up, and they will feed you. Daydream or take a nap during the 5 minute biblical discussion if you want, or even just continue feeding your face. Christian groups are notorious for permitting atheists to attend their gatherings, and most Christian groups actually encourage this. And all you have to do, FFR member, is not be a total butthead in order to get a free lunch.

  3. I would think the best way to learn about Christians and the basis of their religion would be to meet with them and invite them to speak freely.

It’s a voluntary educational experience that the school district doesn’t have to pay for plus a lunch for their kids.

Unlike a lot of the agenda they push through the education system today under the guise of secondary education teaching degrees, the students can choose not to attend the lesson or by expected to demonstrate their proficiency with the material.
