Oracle and Japan’s Softbank Team Up with OpenAI for Multi-Billion Dollar “Stargate” AI Project

TechCrunch

OpenAI says that it will team up with Japanese conglomerate SoftBank and with Oracle, among others, to build multiple data centers for AI in the U.S.

The joint venture, called the Stargate Project, will begin with a large data center project in Texas and eventually expand to other states. The companies expect to commit $100 billion to Stargate initially and pour up to $500 billion into the venture over the next four years.

They promise it will create “hundreds of thousands” of jobs and “secure American leadership in AI.”

“The Stargate Project is a new company which intends to [build] new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States,” OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank said in a joint statement. “This project will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States but also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and its allies.” More

  1. SO now we’re going to give our tech to the Japanese? Banks don’t do a lot of R and D. And make no mistake, we are still at war with the Japs. So they’ll finance it and take the knowledge. They’re slightly better than the Chinese. Many large Japanese Corporations are still following their 200 year plan. They are not are allies. Stupid fing move.

  2. I only purchase Japanese CNC’s. Why? Because they’re the best in the business. American’s invented them. Japs stole them and perfected them. Now we can’t compete. Keep it up dumb shits.

  3. Might as well bend over and spread those cheeks now. The govt/tech surveillance regime will know everything else about you so it’s inevitable Skynet Stargate will want to get a good look up there, too.

The Nippers can’t even make a wind-up toy without putting the springs in upside-down.

I’m bullshitting. Panasonic was the cutting edge.

  5. Call me an asshole, I probably am. But I will not do business with Asians other than American Asians. And sometimes I need to think long and hard about that. I’m 45 years in the manufacturing industry. I think I’ve seem it all.
We watched a Semi Conductor Company farm our one department at a time to the Taiwanese. Wafer transport systems. First it was HR. Then compliancy, OSHA, state shit, etc. Finally their PDM system. That’s controlling Revisions on their designs. They just gave the chinks all their designs. Every bit of them including ECO’s. The Taiwanese captured that company lock stock and barrel with out spending a dime. In fact they made money considering Intevac was paying them for their services.
We made a specialized large transfer aluminum plate for them that had to be dead flat. over 42 inches it could not very .001 of an inch. We found a product, Alpase K100s, a vertically cast plate under a vacuum that had zero porosity and zero stress. Because it was cast. Cool stuff. The linch pin to the design. The chinks tracked down who we were ordering it from through the material certification we were required to proved, approached the vendor and promised them three times the volume and the rat bastards gave it up. Their local sales rep dropped by to smooth it over AS IF. Fuckers. we’ve never purchased any material from them since.
The moral to this long winded story is American Corps need to stop looking short term pay off and start sticking together. We are at war. And the only way we win this war is sticking to American first policies. Trump knows. Oops. I mentioned their name. Research them. Dumbest management team fucking EVER.
