Seeing Obama grinning with commies is sickening. Does he not know what this country has been through trying to defeat the aggressive spread of communism?
He does know. That’s what makes this deplorable.
In a bout of sheer coincidence, when I went to Youtube, my “recommended videos” listed the Russian roulette scene from The Deer Hunter. Eerily apropos.
In this scene we see Mike and Nicky, two steel mill workers from Clairton, Pa, who volunteered for the war effort to defeat the spread of communism, holed up as prisoners in a river shack infested with water rats. A picture of Ho Chi Minh hangs on the wall- the same Ho Chi Minh that Obama is grinning in front of in his giddy photo op with the commies.
Previous to this scene, Mike (Robert DeNiro) approaches Nicky (Christopher Walken) underneath the hut, in the water, where the prisoners were stored awaiting their turn to play the Russian roulette game. They’ve been listening to the other prisoners shooting themselves in the head, followed by laughter and the excitement of the betting money transferring hands.
Mike hatches an idea. He wants to convince the commies to allow him to play Nicky, but with more bullets in the gun. Nicky thinks Mike is nuts. “More bullets!?!”
Mike explains that it’s their only way out, the idea being that if they can get more bullets in the gun they can use it to shoot their way out.
But that wasn’t the end of his plan.
To make sure he doesn’t end up turning the gun on the commies and firing empty chambers they must use up some clicks of the trigger.
The acting, the tension, and the fact that it showed commies to be savage animals (something that caused the left to go into fits in 1978) makes this one of the better scenes in movie history.

I didn’t sleep so good after watching the Deerhunter. I’ve only seen it once, pretty frickin intense. Obama is such a POS, no doubt wishes he had absolute power like his heroes.
