NYPD Detectives have identified the suspect in connection to several assaults on Asian women in Chinatown within the past week.
Detectives are now searching for a 25-year-old man named Tyrell D. Shaw, whose relatives’ contacted police after viewing the surveillance video that was released to the public.
Shaw’s friends and relatives became concerned after a post appeared on his WordPress blog, describing his infatuation with Asian women and admitting to the crimes. He then outlined his intention to end his life, according to the NY Times.
The blog located on his WordPress page titled “Why I decided to leave this earth” reads:
“I never wanted to reach the conclusion that Asian women would never take me serious, because of the color of my skin,” the post read.
He then actually admits to the crimes of assault the Asian women in the face and concludes his blog post with an intention to commit suicide.
I just couldn’t understand why Asian Women didn’t find me attractive…so I decided to play a game. Bash Asian Women in the Nose…I didn’t even expect to bash The Dry cleaning lady in the mouth. She went overboard with the verbal abuse. That was actually my day off from playing the “Nose Game.”
Did he do it identifying as a Mexican?

So, I guess this isn’t a hate crime as the perp is a black man. Hey, what if he identifies as a white man will that make it a hate crime?
