Recreations – IOTW Report

Recreations

We now have a couple of recreations of the assassination attempt that address some important questions. First, was making a head shot from 130 yards away (or so) with an off the shelf lower tier AR-15 all that easy? Second, could it have been “staged,” as some have been declaring, in that the shooter was trying to merely clip President Trump’s ear for political effect. Third, how was the secret service able to so quickly “neutralize” the killer? Both videos address these questions Here and Here

  1. I’ll look at the attachments later. For now, how do we know it was off the shelf lower tier AR-15? Anyone seen confirmation of the weapon found? Or the Caliber? Who in the hell would put their reputation as a sniper on the line by taking a hit on a target that requires them to hit the ear of a moving target? And one last thing, what makes anyone think that the counter-snipers put an end to this? It’s possible the “snipers” in the second floor window made sure their patsy wasn’t going to spill the beans if he was taken alive. OK, I’m taking off my tin foil hat so I can watch “The Sum of All Fears”.

  2. The assertion that the event was staged, that someone 150 or so yards away could deliberately nick a standing and animated target in the ear with full confidence not to do more damage than that, is simply silly.

@Brad — How small would a 5-shot group have to be to correspond to 1 MOA at 150 yards? At least a couple of inches, right? A bit more than earlobe sized, right?

I have no doubt that there’s far more here than meets the eye, and my assumption is that any pronouncements or leaks from govt sources are designed to deceive. But the idea that someone that far away with that kind of rifle in that environment did anything other than attempt a kill shot at DJT’s head and and miss the kill because his target moved, just won’t fly with me.

Deliberate under-protection? Sure. Deliberate withholding of the info there was a suspicious guy at the rally, and letting DJT go on without knowing? Sure. Instructions to key corrupt agents not to look out the window or pretend they didn’t? Entirely possible. And on and on. Lots of possibilities. But not a deliberate ear nick from 150 yards with that kind of rifle. And if that was match ammo he bought, I think we’d have heard by now.

  3. First of all, let’s get this out of the way. You average cheap AR is still much more accurate than you average shooter. It was reported that this guy was on the school rifle team. WTF? The school has come back and said there’s no record of him being on the school rifle team. No one has seen him with gun in hand. It’s all bull shit. I personally think there was only one shooter. But it wasn’t him.

  4. Regardless of the amount of damage (or lack thereof) to the patsy’s head, Im still having problems with how gory it wasnt.

Ive not seen someone shot in the head, but Ive seen all sorts of impact and penetrating injuries, and the only times I saw little bleeding despite catostrophic injuries was when the heart stopped beating before or concurrent with the injury.

What could have stopped his heart? I can only answer that with another question, why havent we seen a coroners report or details on how the guy were told was the shooter died? Just one picture of the guy’s head and only fuzzy distant ones of his body that dont show much.

I feel like theres a reason for that…

SS used a NF 7-35×56 optic, not a straight 10 power.

Crooks carbine is an elcheapo, good for2inches at a buck fifty. I’ve got a Remington R15 that would easily do half that. It’s the only off the rack AR we have, it’s about the same size, but has an A2 stock, not a folder.

I had a DPMS barrel and it was not a three minute barrel. It was a defective barrel that a factory service center gave me. Had a crooked A frame sight. Other than that it was just a cheap chrome lined barrel. It was on an Aero upper and had a Toolcraft BCG in it. Nothing special. It shot about inch groups at a hundred. I’ve got a little carbine with a Faxon pencil barrel in 233 Wilde, it’s an easy half inch grouper. It has a much better trigger in it than DPMS uses. No possible way, to shoot that rifle the way the dumbass leftists claim.

  6. I shoot a Model70 Winlite in 300 Wby. My buddy has the same rifles and I’ve seen him shoot chucks with his using 200 grain SMK bullets. Just zipped them. Didn’t blow anything up.

If you put that gun in a vice it’ll shoot 1 inch groups all day long, minus the bent barrel. By the way, best affordable, super accurate, AR15 barrels on the market bar none, Green Mountain.

  8. Head shots dint seem to be all that explosive in my limited experience with seeing big game shot in the head. I think the sinus cavities is why, instead of expanding the bone and cartilage tissue doesn’t have the necessary amount of fluid present. In general, it is very bad practice to shoot big game in the head.

To your point, the teen shooter suffered a head shot from a 7mm mag. So they say. I’ve never heard of Gov snipers using that round. Lowell would probably know better. Much hotter than a 308. His head was still intact. But then again there was no blood.

I use their barrels on restoration projects. I am a fan. We have a bunch of ARs, they fit the kids well. Lets them reach out past where their Contender carbines in 17 Hornet leave off. I used to drive through Aero Precision every day on the way down to the train to go to work. Blemish uppers and lowers were about a double sawbuck and it was hard to find the blemish. I’ve still got a bunch, but have been busy doing stuff like this lately. https://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?459793-Low-wall-action-repair-lower-tang-help-request

I’ve got a Model 90 in 22 short, Model 61 in 22 WRM, a couple Remington 541 projects and a Martini Cadet in 17 Ackley Bee all going currently. I have not been doing a lot with ARs recently. We don’t need any and nobody has stopped by for help lately. I don’t know why I have a reputation for putting together really good ones, all I do is check to make sure everything is within spec, use good parts and follow the instructions. The only thing I do that is beyond that is true the upper by lapping it. They never really need it, but old habits are hard to break. Anybody that can bake a cake from scratch should be able to do the same, but mine do tend to shoot better than most. Maybe it’s that I pay attention to the details. Other than that it doesn’t make sense to me.

  11. I’m much better with a pistol than a rifle. Go figure, we have our own AR line, currently non active. But I’m good enough with a rifle that I notice a big difference with their barrels over much higher priced barrels. That’s all we use, when we build the ar15 platform. Did a couple Gendels. Custom order barrels. Varmint guys. 900 yards dead bang. Very cool round. Shit I can’t even see that far.

  12. My understanding is the SS was shooting a 300 Win Mag. I think they shoot some ammo loaded with SMK bullets. I shoot 200 Grain Nosler Partitions and have never shot any other bullet out of my 300 Wby Mod 70. My buddy does though. There isn’t much difference in the Win/Wby rounds.

As for the damage from large rounds being catastrophic… not as a general rule. Smaller calibers have thinner jackets and tend to be more explosive. Now, that being said had he been hit with a 110 grain 40 caliber varmint bullet his head would have been nothing but a pink mist. Larger bullets with heavier jackets need to hit a substantial amount of fluid or the hydraulic pressure just isn’t there to open them up.

Pass throughs are more common than good bullet performance or fragmentation. I’ve seen coyotes hit by my buddy with his 300 Wby using a 200 grain bullet just walk on for a ways then tip over. Liked like a pencil had been run through them.

  13. The Secret Service was using the NF ATAC scopes, I still don’t know what was on the AR. Early on the info was the SS was using straight ten power scopes. I found that odd, but from what is out there now, they were using NF ATAC 7-35×56.

NF used to be just up the road too. All of the manufacturers are moving to free north Idaho though. NF is an importer, not. Manufacturer. Used to get deals on blemish from them too.

I’ve also heard Lapua. Which makes more sense. In the long run I’m thinking it was a .22 from the guys on the second floor. This entire thing makes no sense. The >Gov people are leading us around by the nose. Mean while we know what happened.

If those 541 projects are in your way, I’d be interested in making more space for you.
I have an old 341(1938) that will hold 1 MOA with aguila match. It took a little work to fix the 7lb trigger.

  16. There was more than one shooter. It’s the first thing I thought about when I first watched the attempt video and heard the shots ring out, some sounding like different rifles – and that’s before the SS shot the patsy.

    2
  17. Iron sights at a 130 yards isn’t a simple shot for a useful idiot like the guy they killed. It was a pro who shot Trump – and that pro didn’t count on PDJT moving his head at the last second.

    8
  18. From the early (grainy) images of the patsy’s corpse and his rifle 8 ft away, it appeared that his AR type rifle had an eotech or probably a chink knockoff type optic.

  19. I don’t believe Trump had his ear shot. I am open to new evidence, but from his own words and pictures, I don’t see it.

During Trump’s speech at the RNC, he said when he reached up to touch his ear and brought his hand back down it was “covered in blood” (his words). I have a picture where he reached up to touch his ear, brought his hand back down, looked at it, then began to lower his body down. That picture when he is looking at his hand, there is no blood on it. Where is the blood on his hand in the raised fist? Are we to believe the SS cleaned his hand? And no blood on that perfectly clean white shirt collar?

My first impression was it was “divine intervention”. I have changed my mind.

  20. A 130 yard hit, while seems long to many people (who are not familiar with guns), isn’t that much for an experienced shooter. I’ve been mule deer hunting,(over 30+ years ago), in the “high desert” area of Calif with people who could hit their target from almost 200 yards using an old bolt action Springfield 30.06 and a scope. No big deal. Retrieving the deer was a bitch though.

No need for conspiracy theories. This was a botched assassination attempt and probably won’t be the last one tried. Next time they will try something more subtle….or….more likely grandiose, like bombs that blow up everyone in the area. Bystanders are just acceptable losses. The Oligarchs who control us…I mean Democrats, are desperate right now.

Buckle up people…gonna be a bumpy ride.

  21. Original story….1 assassin and 1 SS sniper shooting….

Acoustic evidence points out 2 to 3 different assassins shooting with a SS sniper….govt then changes story to 1 assassin and 2 SS snipers shot….

    Acoustics….

    Reenactment….

and we’re led to believe that the 1st shot was a .556/223 that hit trump45’s ear, flag man, and bleacher rail….more than likely a 308 round….

    Many, many ????

  22. “You don’t have to remember anything when you’re telling the truth.”

The SS keeps making it harder for themselves to be believed.
Fake News even claimed the SS chief spent her life in law enforcement. I thought she came from Pepsi.

  23. People runnin’ everywhere
    Don’t know where to go
    Don’t know where I am
Can’t see past the next step
Don’t have time to think past the last one
Have no time to look around
Just run around, run around think why
They allowed him on the roof
They let him take the shots
They took him out so he couldn’t talk.

    Change.
    My.
