RIP Chili – IOTW Report

RIP Chili

Chili is one of the first subjects I painted for the iOTWreport audience.  Chili was a member of the McFartus family. (One of the perils of having a funny screen name is when we have to post sad news. But Chili could take a joke.)

What a great dog.

  1. To the family, may you be comforted in this time of loss. I agree with Annie Gir What a majestiic, splendid-looking dog! When the time is right, and it may not be for a while, I hope you’ll welcome another pup into your family.

  2. Looks a lot like the dog I had as a teenager, Little Bit (with a big bite) – she was so so smart, so pretty.
    Sad time.
    We’re all feeling your pain.
    Bye Chili.

  3. Their loss somehow is more deeply felt, lingers longer as we get older. This last time I waited four days and one bottle of vodka before adopting another one, a two month old mutt.

Don’t wait, we have so little time. That’s what they teach us with their passing.

  4. BFH, I’ve tasked my daughter with taking a picture of Oscar, Otto and Bailey together. It won’t be an easy task but she will get it done somehow and I’ll send it in.

  5. Awesome! Thanks.. A brief history about Chili. 2009 he was tossed out of a car on the 60 fwy in Ptown, (Pomona), at 6 months around 2 am. Good people rescued him and he was transported to the Pomona Valley SPCA. It was a kill shelter, not sure if they changed the law. The McFartus family adopoted Chill the day b4 his shot. He has ran in the Pacific surf and the Atlantic, even survived a trip across Tejas. Thank u for your support, I miss my hairy 4 legged brother. Keep smiling Chili.. we love you

  6. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

  7. @mcfartus – What a beautiful dog! I’m so sorry for your loss and hope Chili, Sophie and Angel are romping together, and Chili isn’t chasing Teddy. 🙂
I’m confident we will reunite with all our fur buddies when our time comes.

@Jethro – Awesome tribute. Copied and saved.
