Chili is one of the first subjects I painted for the iOTWreport audience. Chili was a member of the McFartus family. (One of the perils of having a funny screen name is when we have to post sad news. But Chili could take a joke.)
What a great dog.

He’s a Beauty.
To the family, may you be comforted in this time of loss. I agree with Annie Gir What a majestiic, splendid-looking dog! When the time is right, and it may not be for a while, I hope you’ll welcome another pup into your family.
Sorry for my presbyopia. Annie Girl, not Gir!
Oh, Chili I know you will be missed. Such a great looking dog–RIP
RIP Chili. I trust your journey to the Bridge was peaceful and among your loved ones. Rest well boy.
Comfort for Annie Girl’s family. So hard to lose a beloved pet and she was a beauty.
RIP, good and faithful friend.
Your pets are waiting for you in heaven. Sorry for your loss.
Funny name: Penistown. Pen us tin

Looks a lot like the dog I had as a teenager, Little Bit (with a big bite) – she was so so smart, so pretty.
Sad time.
We’re all feeling your pain.
Bye Chili.
Looks like a good boy to me. RIP. Sorry Annie Girl. I love shepherds.
Beautiful dog!
What a handsome dog! RIP Chili. I’m sure you’ll be missed. 🙁
Have fun in puppy heaven, because all dogs go there.
RIP Chili.
My condolences. It is always difficult, but I can’t imagine a life without dogs.
He was a handsome boy. He’ll just play over the bridge until his people join him.
Their loss somehow is more deeply felt, lingers longer as we get older. This last time I waited four days and one bottle of vodka before adopting another one, a two month old mutt.
Don’t wait, we have so little time. That’s what they teach us with their passing.
BFH, I’ve tasked my daughter with taking a picture of Oscar, Otto and Bailey together. It won’t be an easy task but she will get it done somehow and I’ll send it in.
What a handsome boy. Good dog, Chili. Good dog. Have fun across the Rainbow Bridge until you meet your family again. Condolences to the family.
Awesome! Thanks.. A brief history about Chili. 2009 he was tossed out of a car on the 60 fwy in Ptown, (Pomona), at 6 months around 2 am. Good people rescued him and he was transported to the Pomona Valley SPCA. It was a kill shelter, not sure if they changed the law. The McFartus family adopoted Chill the day b4 his shot. He has ran in the Pacific surf and the Atlantic, even survived a trip across Tejas. Thank u for your support, I miss my hairy 4 legged brother. Keep smiling Chili.. we love you
Id rather spend my life with a wonderful animal than most of the people i know.
What a magnificent looking dog and a magnificent painting.
Just 8 years old? That’s a shame, he looks like was a good dog.

RIP, Chili. Say hi to all my critters. Don’t chase my kitties because they all have sharp claws!
What a beautiful pup. Prayers for you, McFartus family.
Aw, he’s a good lookin’ scamp! Sorry for your loss, McFartus. It sounds like he had a very good life with your family. Be proud of that.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
I love the name Chili.
I bet he would have been fast friends with my Roxy.
Rest easy doggie, rest easy now.
Good dog, Chilli. Stay a bit and you’ll be fine. We,love you buddy. Good dog. Good dog, baby. Go in peace sweet spirit.
@mcfartus – What a beautiful dog! I’m so sorry for your loss and hope Chili, Sophie and Angel are romping together, and Chili isn’t chasing Teddy. 🙂
I’m confident we will reunite with all our fur buddies when our time comes.
@Jethro – Awesome tribute. Copied and saved.
Blessed are those who rescue the unwanted animals in the world. Your reward comes in the friendship made with those you took in.
Rest in Peace, Chilli boy.
Sorry for your loss, mcfartus. Great looking dog.
I can spot a great dog by their eyes and their ears. This was a great dog. RIP Chilli.
Sir Fur, it’s wonderful that you help readers remember their companions in such a great way!
Sorry about the dog … but how’s Julianna (?)
And if I’ve missed something, I apologize, preemptively.
I’m so sorry. His Spirit will always be with you.
Oh, geez. I just now saw this. I’m so sorry for the loss of Chili.
