  1. After Duane Eddy died last week, I listened to some music he collaborated on.

Speaking of saxophones, maybe the meanest sax of all was on Peter Gunn, a great piece from the early sixties, and a TV show also. The sax growls throughout the whole thing like a huge predator. I think Mr. Eddy provided the guitar track.

  2. Sanborn was prolific and stellar. Great sound, he was a distinct soloist.
He was also the victim of plenty racism early on via the Jazz Royalty who posited that only blacks could play jazz.

  3. I tried to enjoy jazz because, I don’t remember why, But several of us went to a Herbie Hancock and some other famous guy. We were in the 6th row, center stage, and we all fell asleep. That might have been the end of my jazz experience.

  4. Caught the news on SiriusXM’s Watercolors yesterday while driving. Almost jumped a curb. Tremendously saddened by the news. A giant has passed from us. Just happy to see the tremendous collection of music he leaves behind, and I’ve got most of it. RIP Dave.
