The Cool Down
In a stunning twist of fate, nearly 1,000 low-lying tropical islands once considered doomed are now growing in size, defying dire predictions of their demise.
It’s the conservation comeback story of the century — and a lesson in nature’s resilience, according to The New York Times.
As the planet warms, ice caps melt and oceans rise. Scientists feared these islands, many barely peeking above the waves, would be the first to vanish beneath the tides.
Yet when researchers analyzed decades of aerial photos and satellite imagery, they discovered an amazing trend: Most islands have remained stable or even increased in area. More
Maybe they are stable because the preconceived notion of rising sea levels is false.
I’ve read that harbormasters all over the world say rising sea levels are BS.
Well, duh! There aren’t any icebergs around them to melt!
I went back to the Jersey Shore a few years back. The beach is exactly the same as it was 70 years ago. Notice the article attempts to explain this shocking fact without considering that the climate scam may be a load of BS.
Our scientific experts are so SMAHT! Just ask them, they’ll tell you..
When ice melts, its (the water) volume gets smaller.
@GoB — The effect of the density difference between water and ice only matters if the ice is floating, and if the ice is floating when it melts, the ocean surface does not rise.
Does it have something to do with the land bouncing back up as it recovers from the weight of glaciers from the last ice age having now melted away?
If the NY Times said the sun was coming out tomorrow, I’d double-check on it.
Science strikes out, again.
NASA has been warning the last few days about a stadium sized object that is going to fly close to the earth or hit it. What are we supposed to do about it? Hide under desks?
God is infinitely stronger and smarter than all the scientists that ever were or ever will be. I take what science is selling with a big grain of salt. Some of it is acceptable, some is not.
NYT had an article a few years ago about the supposed ocean rising near Newport, VA. The writer admitted some of it was due to the land sinking, but still stuck to the story of oceans rising due to man-made Global Warming.
When the land sinks, the worms will be exposed, so I call it a case of Natural Global Worming.
Yeah but will they capsize??? Hank Johnson would like to know.
