The “Decembrists” were true revolutionaries – all captured and executed. They were 12 years too early. The opportunists took over the movement in 1917 as it exploded into nation-wide disgust at the wastes of WWI and Czarist incompetence.
Nobody wants to be a “Decembrist.”
