The only time I ever see Seth Meyers is at the gas station. The station runs TV clips while you fill up, and it always seems to be this pissdribble on the screen.
To highlight how forced and lame and nonsensical his jokes are I’ll pass along this gem I heard at the pump just today.
He made a comment about the Mets’ Wilmer Flores choosing his new “plate appearance music.” He’s using the theme from Friends. Weird choice, admittedly, but Meyers’ comment is asinine.
He said it’s a natural choice because being a Met means “it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month, or even your year.” (Those are the lyrics to part of the song.)
Shouldn’t comedy have a kernel of truth to it? The Mets are the reigning national league champions and are tied for a post season spot with 8 games to go.
I only bring this up because it shows how Meyers’ comedy is based in fantasy, like when he makes his idiotic jokes about Trump and Palin and anyone else on the right.
And the audience, like seals, bark on command.
