Shelter-in-place ordered after Hazmat spill on Interstate 10 in Arizona

JTN: A shelter-in-place order and some evacuations have been called for on Tuesday after a crash and Hazmat spill on Interstate 10 in Tucson, Arizona.

ADOT reports that the interstate is closed and it is not known when it will reopen. 

According to a local outlet, residents in a one-mile radius of the area near the crash were being warned to evacuate or take shelter immediately.

The residents were asked to turn off machines that bring in any outside air, including air conditioners and heaters.  MORE

  1. So a one mile radius for a semi of nitric acid. I can understand that. That’s almost the same thing as multiple flaming rail cars of carcinogens. One mile radius and you will be fine. Can you imagine being a farmer in Ohio and having a black cloud of carcinogens over your land?
