Young up-and-coming rapper Goonew was shot and killed in Maryland back on March 18, but he is still making headlines.

At least, his family and friends are still helping him make headlines, although it is not to everyone’s liking. Because, Goonew, 24, whose real name is Markelle Morrow, has been trending ever since photos and video from his unique memorial service Sunday found their way to social media.

Penn-

The New York Post calledit the hip-hop equivalent of “Weekend at Bernie’s,” and, well folks … according to multiple reports and what seems apparent from the photos, they propped Goonew’s body up and displayed it on stage at Washington, D.C.’s Bliss nightclub as they partied around him during his home-going service.

You can check out a photo — some may find this offensive — that shows Goonew propped up on stage, here.

Many of Goonew’s fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with the event.

“No way Goonew mama approved that (stuff) that’s so sad and disrespectful,” one Twitter user wrote.

“If y’all saw that video with Goonew’s body y’all can’t tell me this society ain’t already collapsed …” another posted.

“This Goonew stuff is horrifying to say the least,” another wrote.

  1. People who work for their living don’t behave like this. End all welfare and related handouts now. Policing can be accomplished using large caliber hand guns and medium power long arms. Clean them out, clean them up, give the little ones something to live for, like a cleaned up society.

  2. …um, bodies of the dead will deliquesce kinda quick in a warm environment, and also whatever is inside will end up outside, running down legs and such. Rigor doesn’t last long so I don’t know how they are propping him up, but the longer the flesh rots, the more likely the skin and even the muscles will slouth off and connecting tissues like ligaments pull apart, parting company with whatever retaining device they may be using.

I’d ask how this isn’t abuse of a corpse, but of course the answer is because, Black…

  3. Kind of a break in form, this. Usually they come in alive and leave dead after a ‘disrespect’ issue. Here, he starts dead, ends dead, and his corpse is disrepected the entire time.

  4. That reminds me of that movie with Clint Eastwood where Little Bill in the saloon had his black friend being propped up outside.
Couldn’t this be taken as a sign of disrespect with bullets flying?
I think I need to go watch that again.
