A UK man has been jailed for draining tens of thousands of pounds from his father’s bank accounts by faking both his voice and that of his dead mother, during phone calls with bank staff.
A complex police investigation found that during a 14-month period in 2017 and 2018, just months after his mother had passed away, 42-year-old Daniel Cuthbert defrauded his grieving father of more than £56,000 ($70,000) by phoning his parents’ bank and posing as both his father and his late mother. Audio footage released by Northamptonshire Police revealed how Cuthbert faked his dead mother’s name on at least nine occasions. He can be heard correctly answering a number of security questions before requesting that a sum of money be transferred from his parents’ account into another account. Cuthbert took all of his father’s savings, including his redundancy pau-out, and also took several loans in his name.
“This was a really despicable abuse of trust by this man who falsely represented his father and even his late mother, in order to defraud them out of more than £56,000,” Sgt Mike Rogers, from the Force’s Volume Crime Team, said.
According to prosecutors, Daniel Cuthbert’s father noticed some suspicious activity when checking his bank account and confronted the fraudster about it, but he was persuaded that Daniel had nothing to do with it. However, the poor man would soon learn that trusting his son had been a very bad decision. In 2018, a building company called Mr. Cuthbert to inform him that he was going to lose his house due to arrears. Apparently, his son had taken several loans in his name and never bothered to pay them or at least inform his father about them.
I reallllllllly want to hear the audio of him impersonating his mother.
It has been my observation: A person’s biggest enemy is rarely a stranger… it’s their closest ones. In my experience it frequently is the person or persons they have done the most for. It is almost always a family member or someone they considered a friend who if that “friend” or family member’s version is accepted destroy a good person’s reputation and such individuals have absolutely no compunction destroying a good person’s reputation.
no doubt a labor party/pedo-crat punk
Couldn’t get away with that now. Because in the UK you can’t even get your OWN MONEY out of the bank! Seriously, these people go to their bank and ask for 1000 pounds of their own money and the first question from the teller is, “Why? What you going to use it for?” Then the manager comes out and asks you a bunch more questions. Then if you still want your money the cops will come and shake you down with even more questions. In the end you probably still won’t get your money since the bank usually has only a few thousand pounds cash laying around in the first place to service all their customers for the day. Their excuse is fraud prevention, for your own SAFETY, and you are probably a NUTCASE to actually want your cash. The shit of it all is these people still deposit money in banks that won’t give it to them on demand. I’d burn the place down if they didn’t give me my money. Coming to our shore soon, no doubt.
Damn! There’s an idea!
The parents most have spared the rod.
By sparing the rod the father ended up getting the shaft by his ungrateful son.
The English left Christ long ago.
Sounds like my brother. Every day or so I check out the ____ County, MO, obituaries to see whether or not God has decided to pull the plug on Brother Dearest’s shenanigans.
BFH,
Re: “Impersonating His Mother”
They’re English. Most of the guys already sound like women.
I sound just like my father, Wild Bill Sr, on the telephone. It has led to some interesting phone calls.

Already here for some time now. See “Patriot Act.”
Speaking of making $100 an hour…
Been a while, but when I was involved in a “metal buying” operation the banks HATED us. Deposit checks from refiners and tell them be back in two days for large amounts of cash. We were one of the only buyers who paid out cash to the street. Even caused other jewelers to bring in thier scrap/buys to us as NO AUDIT TRAIL. We documented every penny and made sure we did everything “by the book,” but WINTRUST went so far as forcing the closure of an account because we were “moving too much money”. Was easier to close it for us and easier for them to not deal with government. Was sign off required that we were being warned against such large withdrawals.
Talked to my ex-partner the other day and there’s another uptick that might find me joining him again. Between the wonderful Biden economy and gold playing around two thousand level he’d like my extra body present in the shop again, to keep him in the back room and on the bench doing that work rather than spending all day behind the jewelry case out front. What he doesn’t admit to is the fact that I also showed open carry and we were never hit while others were.
SNS length story, but believe we presented a move difficult target than the other shops in the area who did get robbed. Once two days after we had been cased and fairly confident it was the same gentlemen who cased us that did that one.
