South Africa ends power crisis ‘state of emergency’

RT: South Africa has lifted the ‘state of emergency’ declared in February to deal with the country’s crippling electricity crisis. The measure had been a necessary response to the economic impact and harm caused by critical levels of load shedding on vulnerable sectors, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Thembi Nkadimeng said in a statement on Wednesday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa invoked the measure on February 9 to address the crisis, during which there were daily rolling power cuts by state utility Eskom due to frequent breakdowns at its coal-fired power stations.

According to Nkadimeng, the state of emergency granted the government greater authority to manage the crisis, including the ability to procure emergency resources with fewer bureaucratic hurdles and less oversight.

He said the country will now rely on existing laws and contingency plans to mitigate the impact of power cuts through its Energy Crisis Committee. more

  1. “Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Thembi Nkadimeng” cause nothing says traditional like nation wide blackouts caused by idiots running the power companies.

How’s that black nationalism working out over there anyways? I see we’re going to get a close up look in Chicago where unbelievably they’ve elected someone worse than Lightfoot. If downstate IL had a fucking lick of sense, they pull a New CA and then build wall around Cook County.

  2. I’m sure no one used the state of emergency to drain millions more from Chinese loans to pay for grossly overpriced contracts or just straight into offshore accounts.

  3. Ok, ok, ok… here goes… the indigenous and recently locally migrated population of South Africa is not mentally or emotionally equipped to operate any even modestly developed technology. They can destroy with the best of all humans, they simply lack the ability to leave things where they lay, defer gratification to some future time, add to developed ideas, or maintain systems beyond a domestic well or a short fence line. This is inherent, not an artifact of colonialism, after all, all the infrastructure they took from whitey was the functional artifact of colonialism as was the education necessary to maintain it. They threw away the education and are destroying the infrastructure and will soon be starving and wishing whitey would come back and help them out, as they are in the old Rhodesia. If the Chinese take power those poor poor exploited people will NEVER see freedom of any kind again. On the other hand, electricity will work, water will work, roads will work, etc, etc, etc.

  4. Translation, American taxpayers bail out SA blacks and pay Chicoms to fix infrastructure long enough to limp through until next crisis.

    But Wakanda Forever….

No joke, it’s not hyperbole, my word as a Biden
