South Dakota Ends Fees For Concealed Carry Permits

JTN:

Starting Friday, it will no longer cost money for people in South Dakota to receive their concealed carry permit.

Senate Bill 212, passed by lawmakers and signed by Gov. Kristi Noem, removed the fee.

“It will not cost you a penny to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights in South Dakota. We are even paying for your federal background checks,” Noem said in a news release. “In South Dakota, we will always defend the rights of law-abiding gun owners to keep and bear arms to protect themselves and their loved-ones.”

Secretary of State Steve Barnett told the Joint Appropriations Committee in January that the state could lose between $100,000 and $250,000.

Barnett’s office would have to find a way to make up for the lost revenue or ask for a “straight general fund appropriation to cover that loss,” Barnett said.

Some said taxpayers should not have to pay for the concealed carry permits. more

  1. Maybe it’s splitting hairs but the whole concept of a concealed carry permit, having to go begging to the government for permission to exercise a Constitutional right, is totally antithetical to both the spirit and the application of the Second Amendment.

  2. ^^^^^ Well, with the shit Cali just pulled, lot’s of my buds, that wear just a little bit more tin foil than I do, are thinking about not renewing their permits and carrying anyway. Fuck em.

  3. Kristi has been hawking her new book of late, and as such, has been making all the media rounds, was on Gutfield the other night. Megan Kelly had her on her show the other day, good interview.

I know Kristi has been known to ruffle some conservative feathers from time to time but she really is exactly the type of person we want running things. A ex-farm girl who took over her daddy’s ranch, she represents a number of values I hold dear; a love of God and country, a definable work ethic, and a genuine desire to do good for the people she represents. And she is a huge Trump supporter.

  4. Yea but she was jumping up and down on Corey Lewandowski Pogo Stick. I didn’t believe the allegations at first, but has anybody heard from Lewandowski since? I think Trump moved him to the Siberian branch of MAGA.

  5. I don’t need a permit to carry in Texas, but I will keep up my CHL because it offers certain benefits like by-passing the background check when buying guns. Because I’m a vet, it’s very cheap to renew every five years.
