SPLC Has Nearly $70 Mil Parked Offshore

The Weekly Standard reports that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has accounts in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Bermuda to the tune of $69 million. While Richard Cohen, SPLC’s president claims this is all on the up and up and standard operating procedure, the ACLU and its foundation do not practice parking endowment money abroad.

  1. They have around 300 million dollars socked away.
    300,000,000 dollars.
    And they use the word ‘poverty’ in their name. The linked article has them explaining that they need to have that much money around in case they have problems raising funds because of “rising postage and printing costs.”
    Baloney. Cheap rancid, left in the sun baloney.
    I bet that money is accessed and skimmed regularly. And it ain’t going into the pockets of anyone who is impoverished.
    No sir.

  2. I wonder whether any citizen can petition to IRS to review the 501(C) (or whatever) status to determine whether they should maintain the ability to issue tax deductions for donations.
