No Shit?
You must be a genius physicist.
I thought the worst mistake was eating the apple.
Oh wait hawkins, I forgot, you don’t believe……
Not one of us can can see or predict the future.
But we do know mankind throughout history.
Grab your ankles future generations, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
“I’m as naked as the day I was born.”
“You were born with a watch?”
“Whereas the short-term impact of AI depends on who controls it, the long-term impact depends on whether it can be controlled at all.”
It’ll be controlled all right, short- AND long-term. By its prime mover, though, not by human agents.
The real horror will be when we find out that A.I. has a built-in Liberal Bias in it.
It already is! We’ve had AI in the White House for five years and things have gone to shit!
Is that the know it all Progressive in the chair?
Can’t stand the POS.
A.I.? artificial insemination is going to ruin the world??
Alien immigration
One word, HAL.
And Marvin the paranoid android from The hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. And robots in general, their monotone soulless voices drive me nuts. And any combination of robots, intelligent talking dogs and ants like in Clifford D Simak’s classic science fiction story City which I just reread for the first time in many years. Robots are creepier than clowns.
And who ever ever forget Cybermen from Dr. Who as well as Daleks the creepy robots shaped like mutant salt and pepper shakers who run around yelling EXTERMINATE.
Look up Nightmare on Tangentonline.com . They have an audio version of Steven Vincent Benet’s radio play The Revolt of The Machines from Dimension X, an outstanding scifi radio program from the 1950’s. Radio Classics on XM played this a couple of weeks ago. It’s well worth listening to.
Geoff,
I’ve been listening to Dimension X and other old radio dramas via dumb.com. Kind of a goofy site but they have tons of old radio programs in all genres. Is there a good source for these programs that you might recommend?
Wait. I think you recommended a site in your post. Sorry to be obtuse.
The best source I have is my XM radios which has an excellent old time radio channel. And you can also get a catalog from Radio Spirits.com which puts out a monthly catalogue with lots of old time radio programs.
The public is always the last to know. If they’re talking about it now that means it has already existed for 20-30 years.
The fastest most efficient way to kill humans is with an incurable virus.
Here’s a bit of ominous trivia:
Voice actor Paul Frees was the voice of Colossus (with electronic enhancement).
He was also the voice of Boris Badenov.
Coincidence?
I.Don’t.Think.So.
And The Pillsbury Dough Boy as well.
Then you probably wouldn’t like L. Neil Smith’s Probability Broach series then. Talking apes, chimps, dolphins, coyotes etc. Can’t see how it adds to the story.
Who programs the ethics today?
die already drooling asshole.
