American Spectator: New York’s senior senator made the rounds on the Sunday shows boasting of his caucus’s ironclad commitment to blocking funding for President Trump’s border wall:
Democrats dug in their heels Sunday on President Trump’s threat to shut down the government unless he gets money for his border wall, saying if the president makes good on his demand, the American people will suffer.
But the White House contends American citizens are already suffering — with or without a shutdown — because of the rise in illegal immigration.
The two sides showed no sign of willingness to compromise Sunday, with just four days left to broker an agreement before the federal government partially shuts down.
“We should not let a temper tantrum — threats — push us in the direction of doing something even our Republican colleagues know is wrong,” Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer told NBC.
The New York Democrat said Republicans in Congress “have to have the guts” to tell the president he’s wrong for refusing to fund the government unless he gets $5 billion for his border wall.
“President Trump should understand there are not the votes for the wall in the House or the Senate. He is not going to get the wall in any form,” he said.
This is idiocy, and Chuck is a schmuck for pushing it.
First of all, there are more than enough votes in the House for the border wall, though there won’t be after the new Congress takes office in January. Unless, of course, the lame-duck Republicans who have their feelings hurt over losing re-election don’t feel like being at the Capitol over the holidays — though counting on your opponents’ lack of morale is never a particularly sound strategy.
But Schumer is right that he can block cloture in the Senate, if he chooses to. So as of right now it looks like we’re going to have a government shutdown over the Democrats’ refusal to fund Trump’s border wall.

Well he’s not done the American farmer any favors so why would he the rest of the population. And he told us he LOVES his farmers. Grain prices are still tanked. He’s really pissing me off right now. Broadcast the day and time of the speech 2 weeks out, put it on Every TV stations, build it up like he’s going to inform us that we’re going to war or something. Get the people riled up!

I’ve been there. Lucca and Pisa both have them. The towns are probably 20 minutes apart, and the language dialects are completely different from each other.

burn it all down I say….without the wall or any attempt to stop the invasion that has been going on for 30+ years, this country is ruined already anyway…..living in California tells me what the country will be like in 10 years without a wall and likely 25 with a wall…..

It’s one of two things, the elephants are either the most incompetent, ineffective bunch of bottom dwelling scum suckers, or they are co-conspirators working hard to line their pockets, and increase their power base. And Trump needs to wake up and realize his base is past fed up!
In a just world the President would have the power to dispatch the military to the residence of anyone who says “walls do not work” or any reasonably close approximation of that sentiment and direct them to tear down any and all walls, fences etc
There is a way to get the Dems on board. A massive campaign to educate them to the fact that 95% of the border crossers are Roman Catholic, and there by anti- abortion. At this rate, we will overturn Roe v Wade in 10 years.
The US is giving Central America $14 BILLION DOLLARS for improvements and can’t afford $5 billion for OUR wall. That’s bullshit and they know it. If we had a news media that would actually report, you know, real news, there wouldn’t be any question where the money would be spent.

If they’re not going to really punish companies that employ illegals (a few are being done for show) then Trump needs to write an executive order forbidding owners, officers or senior staff from any company found employing an illegal from making any federal or state political contributions including directly to a candidate, a candidates party or any 401 group (I think that’s what they’re called) or PAC. Making such a contribution is a felony punished by jail time. Trying to skirt the law through bogus donors would also be a felony. I know it would end up in the courts but you know who would applaud? Most of middle America including a lot of Dems. Probably enough to decide the election.

Schumer needs voters with a low education. Eighth grade is as high as Mexican schools go to. Schumer has no intention of giving voters what they are asking for, he only wants tax dollars to give to others. Schumer is a product of NYC voters so that says it all, ship all the invaders to NYC they will take care of them.

Trump doesn’t need Congress to build the wall; never has.
He can put the military Corps of Engineers down there and make them build it, with military funds.
This is an international border issue, nothing to do with the internal politics of Congress. He doesn’t even need Congressional approval.
Read the Constitution, and then ask yourself WHY this hasn’t been done at all. Hint: it’s because nobody in power wants this wall. Nobody.
