NYP: They’re New York’s Grimmest.
More than half of NYPD cops wish they never joined the force in the first place, according to a damning internal department survey of 6,000 uniformed officers obtained by The Post.
The survey is a sobering snapshot of how the Finest feel in an era of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter riots, the Defund the Police movement, bail-reform laws that keep violent offenders out of jail, and legislative measures that put the burden of liability on officers while emboldening criminals.
“My retirement date is next month,” said one 20-year veteran who took the survey. “I can’t wait to run out of here.”
Officer, who would only provide his first name, Dan, said the job has hit “rock bottom” — and he’s even steered his own son away from a calling that was once proudly passed down from generation to generation. more here
Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.
This is unacceptable! Beatings will continue until morale improves!!!
“In that poll, cops rated morale at an average of just 2.49 on a scale of 1 to 10. A similar measurement was not included in the recent department survey.”
and in the most recent poll, it’s still just 2.49; now on a scale of 1 to a hundred.
Tried both Firefox and Chrome, neither could open up the links in this thread.
First off, I would not define the NYPD as “Finest”. The morale of any police agency is determined by the tone set up the city, if it’s a blue city, run by a progressive mayor and a commie D.A., the officers are not going to be respected or supported and of course they will want to get the hell out of there.
But their dis-satisfaction and fatalism is not unique to NY, this is endemic with any large lib run city. Libs ruin everything, they shit in their own backyard, and make misery and squalor the status quo.
I couldn’t open the link either, but who could blame them?
The URL for the links are a scrambled mess.

What about those who joined during Rudy Giuliani’s terms? That should have been the best time to be on the force.
After that, not so much!
Claudia, it was until that scumbag F’d us with a 5yr contract I wouldn’t wipe my ass with. I say this as one of many NYPD officers at the time that did a shit ton of volunteer work for his campaign. On our days off we went around every neighborhood handing out flyers and talking to the people. His reward was to give us a 5yr contract…0,0,2,2,3. With no retroactive $$ for those two yrs we worked without a contract
Continued…We had a legit slowdown, no summonses written that would generate the city a dime, only broken equipment such as headlights or taillights. This way we meet the quota (yes there is a quota, they should just admit it already) and the people have 24hrs to get it fixed and they pay no fine.
All that being said his admin. took the cuffs off of us and let us handle the streets the way they should be handled…and yes it was awesome,I was 20 yrs old as a rookie in 1992, salary was 24k and I had a 6 shot revolver so it came out to 4k per bullet. I did not join to make $$. I joined to punish those who needed punishment either through the legal system or the way I preferred, on the street
URL has a typo.
How this may roll out: NYPD either goes away entirely or it remains as a small token force to protect the mayor.
The boroughs (5, I think) hire private armed forces to “keep the peace” locally. Eventually, the mod or cartels take them over. Then, we get armed warfare between the gangs as they try to take over neighboring boroughs. Each gang and borough is ruled by a warlord. The main borough, Manhattan will be like Shanghai, a den of drug use, crime, and prostitution – hmmmm – it’s kind of like that now. If you feel nostalgic about 1920’s China, you’ll love it.
So my wife’s favorite “Blue Bloods” is total fiction??
I knew she had a thing for Tom Seleck. Gotta admit I do too.
