Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signs order banning COVID vaccine, mask mandates

FOX:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday signed an executive order prohibiting mask mandates or COVID-19 vaccine requirements from government agencies and municipalities statewide.

Abbott issued the order Thursday, two days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended indoor mask mandates, regardless of vaccination status, in places with at least 50 confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over the previous seven days.

“To further ensure that no governmental entity can mandate masks, the following requirement shall continue to apply: No governmental entity, including a county, city, school district, and public health authority, and no governmental official may require any person to wear a face-covering or to mandate that other person wear a covering,” the executive order read. read more

  1. I talked to my son last night. They home schooled my nine year old grandson last schoolyear because of the mask mandate. I asked him what they were going to do this year. He said they’d home school again if masks were required but since they live in Texas, I guess the masks can’t be required and my grandson will be going to school.

  2. While this is a good idea- Abbott’s mandate does nothing to help the non-gov workers. He’d have to add something about ‘any private company working or dealing with government entities’ also, some stuff about health rights (which is already federal and state law, but corporations aren’t following).

Also, they’re all relying on the CDC, and the CDC is not an elected body and can’t tell anyone to do shit.
