Rep. Adam Schiff has no credible or reliable evidence that President Trump committed an impeachable offense during his telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25, 2019.
Despite hysterical accusations by Democrats of extortion or a mysterious “quid pro quo” that is evidenced nowhere in the transcript of the call, the Democratic Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is determined to pursue his baseless inquisition with nothing more than opinion witnesses offering speculation built on multiple hearsay. This is impeachment by rumor and innuendo.
The first two witnesses at the public hearing on Wednesday will be William Taylor, the acting ambassador to Ukraine, and George Kent, the deputy assistant secretary of state. Factually, they are not witnesses at all. They heard and repeated the equivalent of gossip from a chattering class of diplomats, then made erroneous assumptions that are belied by the only relevant and reliable evidence –a transcript of the Trump-Zelensky conversation.
Isn’t it true that you have no firsthand or direct knowledge from President Trump that he ever demanded from President Zelensky a promise to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden in exchange for U.S. military aid?
Isn’t it true that your “belief” or “understanding” that aid was linked to a Biden investigation (a so-called “quid pro quo”) was based on what other diplomats said or what you surmised?
Where in the transcript of the phone conversation between Presidents Trump and Zelensky is there a demand, condition, or pressure for a “quid pro quo” tied to U.S. aid?
Will Schiff do his little dramatic reading parody about repeating only seven or eight times the demand to dig up and manufacture dirt on his opponent?
Every republican needs to ‘out’ the known whistleblower using the same words as this gutsy newly elected rep!

Other than vague non statutory innuendo’s and accusations, have they named a specific charge they are investigating yet?
A law that is known to have been broken and crime committed, not just some suggestion they might find one if they look hard enough?
…it’s a show trial, so Schiff and Pelosi won’t allow it.
The President WILL be impeached, they have predetermined this. The traitors have gone too far to turn back now, so they have nothing left but to play out their hand.
In a sane world, this would not survive even Mitt Romney’s Senate, but it could make for campaign commercials for Democrats about Republicans “preventing justice on an impeached President”, counting on the lofos to think impeached=Nixon=guilty.
They WILL be pulling out ALL the stops, though, bribing and blackmailing Senators to the greatest extent possible, and threatening their lives, their families, and telling them their children will be served at Comet Pizza if they don’t kowtow. We saw in the Kavenaugh farce that Democrats can expose Senators to dangerous people at will, even on-camera in the very Senate, so they KNOW they are not protected. Some Senator may have particular vulnerabilities, like the McCain family could give Democrats whatever info Songbird used to keep Lindsay Graham as his butt-boy all those years. It’s ALL going to be used, its their only real hope.
So it COULD work.

@Dan should have started shooting (figuratively) a long time ago, we’re still sitting on our hands hoping our elected leaders will do something to stop this travesty. Various articles, Daniel Sobieski’s “Where’s Lindsay Graham?” and Sharyl Atkisson’s “The Curious Timeline for Taking Down Trump” and a musing by The Five’s Dana Purina musing that the Dems “having something up their sleeve” are disquieting. After 3 years and all President Trump has promised and done, this is where we are? I don’t have a good feeling about this. Change my mind and give me hope.

Personally, I’m o.k. with Trump putting the squeeze on Ukraine to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden. The Bidens are corrupt – Joe bragged about withholding aid to Ukraine unless the Ukrainian prosecutor was fired WHILE HE WAS VICE PRESIDENT, and Hunter Biden, who admitted to using his dad’s name to get ahead, was pulling down $600k per year in a position everyone admits he was unqualified to hold. That seems like corruption to me.
What is missing in our national discussion is the tendency of mostly Democrat politicians to scream “election interference!” whenever their wrongdoing is investigated. I know several people who still support Hillary Clinton, and whenever I state that Hillary was perhaps the most corrupt politician to run for President in my memory, I get no argument. I, for one, don’t want corrupt politicians of any party affiliation in public office. I don’t want crooked Hillary as President. I don’t want voter fraudster Al Franken in the Senate. I don’t want influence peddler Joe Biden anywhere near the White House or Senate. I don’t want fraudster Elizabeth Warren in political office. And on and on.
When it comes to foreign affairs, if we have to coerce foreign nations into helping us ferret out corruption, then that’s o.k. with me. We need to clean our own house.
