Someone advised me against making the joke that I should play the song, Little Red Cas-Ket, because Prince was beloved.
So I won’t make that joke.
For the record, I thought he was good in the day and defined his era.

Never cared for his music but damn could be play guitar. Peace, brother.
Prince was a true musical genius. AWD saw him perform several times. He played every instrument and sang every part on his first few albums. Such a pity to lose a true musical genius!

I was a big admirer of his music but when the multi milionaire scrawled “SLAVE” on his face due to copyright disputes with his label, I grew cold. Later incoherent ramblings about George W. Bush and Chemtrails made me realize one thing: Prince wasn’t acting crazy. Prince was crazy.
Never really liked her music. RIP
And now we are going to be listening to his music at every turn, where ever we go. That could be a good or bad thing, according to your musical preferences.
I was stunned when I heard the news on the radio.
The landscape of innovative and enjoyable music just lost more ground to the unlistenable crap that’s being pushed into the public square today.
I saw him at Madison Square Garden in 1999. Great show, a giant in a small body.
Prince was his own person.
His philanthropy, lyrics in some of his songs, and yes, his personal life made him stand out in the shady crowd of celebrities as a person with morals. His personal like was/is not my concern. RIP.
RIP
Shoulda taken Obola with him …
Prince was my first concert. It was 1979 and I was a junior in high school and “I wanna be your lover” was #1 on all the charts. My mom said I couldn’t go, I figured what mom didn’t know wasn’t going to hurt her.
I snuck out, got caught coming back at nearly 1:00 in the morning and was grounded for two weeks, but I had the time of my life and it was well worth it.
Gosh, that feels like a million years ago.
Like others posting here, I was never a fan of his output, but I cannot deny that he was a musical genius and a brilliant musician and entertainer.
Not bad for a 5′ 2″ feller that weighed maybe 80 pounds soaking wet.
In other news, David Crosby is still alive.
As my favorite GunBlogger said, “And yet Justin Beiber sill walks the earth.”
Such a great artist whose life was so short. And then dying young, too.
Damn….just when he could’ve started using the girls room. RIP.
His “Purple Rain” album is still one of my all time favorites. He was indeed an eccentric musical genius. RIP.
I’ll always have my vinyl 45 of Raspberry Beret.
Probably already some little piles of teddy bears and candles outside of Buckingham Palace now.
I liked his movie with Apollonia. “Nipple Rain” I believe it was called.
I’m a HUGE fan of Price, and almost got a part in his movie, “Purple Rain”. I was in a theatrical show at the time, and couldn’t make it to the shoot. Biggest bummer ever. Got to see him in concert at First Avenue in Minneapolis, and his performance was absolutely AMAZING. He was magic onstage. He had that “thing” that you can’t teach a great performer. I’m so sad. He was just too damn young to die. He may have been a weird recluse, but he had a talent that was beyond this world. Rest in Peach, Prince…
Was Michael Jackson’s doctor prescribing medicine again?
I liked his Diamonds & Pearls album.
Cream, Get Off, are two of my favorite songs of his.
He needed to focus on quality and not quantity.
Dude would put out an album every month.
RIP
In his honor I’m having Prince spaghetti tonight.
His performance (in the pouring rain) of ‘Purple Rain’ and other songs at the Super Bowl in Miami was maybe the best Super Bowl performance ever! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NN3gsSf-Ys
I remember Peyton Manning and the Colts winning that Superbowl 29-17.
Who dat?
Saxindacity: I agree! Amazing performance!!
Oh my! And queen mumsy just turned 90, what a teerible birthday present…
So long, Symbol
Very sad news I think. @Dr.Tar and @Tamminator I heartily agree with your sentiments.
Another part of my high school and art school days gone. My favorite art school instructor passed last week at 68. David Bowie, Glen Frey were 69. Prince was 57.
What is it about 80’s icons leaving us yet 60’s and 70’s hippy dippies linger on? Is this another way to erase the Reagan era?!?
An eccentric, smart and talented artist I was a college graduate for about two years, when one of his songs, “When Doves Cry” became a hit. Seems kind of ironic that song could be considered poignantt today.
It’s also interesting, a former member of his original group, Vanity (Denise Katrina Matthews – she became a Christian pastor) died earlier this year.
Das tut mir leid. No, not a genius; just a talented musician who died before his time, if I may presume to second guess the Father.
As far as guitar playing goes, Trower and Bonamassa eat his lunch.
Feminine metrosexual. Flu like symptoms…………………..AIDS
I was told he was a she a long time ago. But she took drugs to man up odd person

I typed too fast. Prince and Peace. Sheesh!
Never a fan. A little too gay for me. RIP.
