11 Comments on The Chieftains – I Saw Three Ships (featuring Marianne Faithfull)
Oh, poo. I went to whatever.com and couldn’t read the text because the wallpaper was too bold. Was I at the right place?
Ahh, the Chieftains, it’s been a few years.
Beautiful.
I’ll have to dig through the stacks of CDs to hear more.
How beautiful. Merry Christmas!
Has anyone noticed that “I Saw Three Ships” is pretty close to the same tune as “Pop Goes the Weasel” ?
Lovely MJA. Thank you. Merry Christmas to all.
although I enjoy her early work (& influence on Jagger) Marianne, regrettably, is worse for the wear … used & abused by the ‘London Scene’ of the ’60’s & ’70’s
… her work on ‘The Memory Remains’ w/ Metallica is ‘OMG … make it stop!’ cringe-inducing IMO
but, The Chieftains are always fun
Marianne Faithful. Could have been the first Mrs. Paul McCartney.
oolook- Yeah, that’s him. But cut him some slack, he’s a Conservative from Canada, I believe.
I love that album. We play it every Christmas morning. Jackson Browne song sounds like every other JB, but the Elvis Costello song is strong. Not very Christmas-y though. the rest of the songs are very good.
I haven’t player any of my Chieftain albums in a long time. I’ll have to dig them out now and rediscover them. Thanks for the song!
Cato- CD’s? My Chieftains, Clancy Bros. & TM, and Wolfe Tones are all on vinyl; kinda shows my age…
