The Parable of the Virtue-Signaling Samaritan

Patriot Retort: Our Sunday reading today comes from the Gospel According to Leftists. The timeless story of the Virtue-Signaling Samaritan.

A man was going down the road from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers.

They robbed him, stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away leaving him half dead.

And a priest happened to be going down the road when he saw the man. Instead of helping him, he passed to the other side of the road and went on his way.

Then a while later, a Levite came upon the man. He too passed to the other side of the road and went on his way.

But a Samaritan traveling to Jericho for a #TaxScam Protest saw the man. And he took pity on him.

He knelt down beside the beaten and bloodied man and said to him, “Oh, gee! Look at you! This is what happens when Republicans are in charge! People get beaten and robbed. You’re just so lucky you didn’t die! But don’t worry. I’m going to write a strongly worded tweet to my Congressman demanding that he oppose the tax bill.

“While I’m at it, I’ll start a hashtag in hopes that I can get it trending.”

  1. Amen to this.

I am fine with people taking in refugees even – as long as they foot the entire bill. I read about a church reaching out and taking in a refugee family, helped get them into the country, the members took care of them, got them set up in schools and food stamps and a government-supported apartment – wait, I thought the church members were going to take care of this family, not the rest of us. If you are willing to foot the entire cost of supporting a refugee then more power to you, but if you are forcing me to pay for it, well I am already doing my part and I resent your forcing me to do anything I don’t want to do.

  2. Any of the first few by passers by could have a large bag of other peoples money and put him up for 1 year with meals and room service, hot and cold running maids and a messenger service!

  3. But because he was a white, straight, male who had a wife and kids and held down a regular job, progressives declared it served him right for repressing everyone else with his normal behavior.

  4. I love how the Progs use scripture when they think it suits them.
Hypocrite is not a strong enough word.
Some lefty priest was on Tucker defending the sanctuary cities in reply to the Kate Steinle verdict.
Did he completely forget about the 10 Commandments?

  5. Sadly true. It certainly would describe the behavior of a (insert name in story) Harry Reid or a Nancy Pelosi or a Bernie Sanders or a Hillary Clinton (progressives who would not get their hands bloody!)

  6. Yes, Dianny, it IS right on the nose! Good and hard, too. Well done.

I’ve never quite liked the term “virtue signaling”. There’s no actual virtue backing it up (but we all already knew that).

How about instead we call it one of these:

    — character flaw revealing
    — vice confessing
    — useless empty gesticulating
    — empty self-promotion
    — pseudoethical masturbation

    Suggestions, anybody?
