The Van Ban Movement – IOTW Report

The Van Ban Movement

Patrick Fletchall makes a very convincing argument in The Federalist that this country won’t be safe until we are free from the threat of van violence.

The terrible crimes committed with this weapon are truly appalling. Our government needs toact now to take these terrible machines of death out of the hands of criminals.

I for one can’t understand how so many can justify ownership of these vehicles when our local governments already provide mass transit.

The parallels to the left’s constant reframe against the 2nd Amendment makes the anti-van campaign seem that more reasonable.

  1. You might say that this guy is in the VANGUARD of the banning the van movement. I’ve had 2 vans, an old late 60’s Dodge van that was mainly used for hauling wood and junk. It was an absolute POS that rolled away by itself one time while in park with me chasing it, fortunately it didn’t hit anything. And most notably the time it had a carburetor fire and I tried to put it out with water from a garden hose with my wife laughing at me while she quietly poured baking soda on the fire which put it out. And a 61 VW camper van which I owned in my hippie wannabe days in 1972. It was the most gutless vehicle I ever owned, couldn’t go over 60-65 mph unless it was going down hill. I had to have one and glad that I don’t have it anymore after a friend of mine who my brother sold it to (after I sold it to my brother) wrecked it. Oh well, and now the damned things are collector items for aging baby boomers who are paying big bucks for them.

  2. Vans can lead to serious problems, though. I once knew a guy who had problems with the radio in his VW van because of a loose connection to the antenna. While he was struggling to remove the antenna he somehow managed to poke himself in the arm with it. The wound became infected, didn’t respond to treatment, and he wound up spending several days in the hospital being treated with numerous different types of antibiotics before they were able to clear it up.

The doctors said it was the worst case of van aerial disease they had ever seen.

    🙄

  3. I own a work van which, by default, makes me a criminal when considering the raping of the planet I do by simply burning more fossil fuel. Why doesn’t this douchebag just come out and demand that socialism ban vans for everybody? You know he wants to.
