Some idiot on Twitter is learning the hard way that anonymity is no protection for making careless statements online. James Woods is pursuing a defamation suit against him for $10 million.
I admire and respect Woods for his very public stand on being a Conservative in Hollywood. His Tweets have been a powerful counter voice against the left.
But this isn’t the way to slay trolls.
Well, Woods did shut the troll up and his troll accounts disappeared too.
Law suit should keep him away for a long time no matter how it turns out.
He doesn’t need the distractions, and hundreds of thousands of his fans don’t need the rumors about drug use. It’s character assassination.
We can make semi-humorous comments about swatting flies with a sledge hammer, but there are times when some damned insect is really
buggingtickingpissing you off, and you don’t have a fly swatter, you don’t have a rolled up newspaper, all you’ve got is that sledge hammer. You do what you have to do with what you have.WHAP!
It may be overkill but ha ha.
Why not sue the guy? The Left has gotten away with everything for so long, there don’t seem to be any boundaries for their side any more.
Using a play out of the lib’s handbook. Even if he doesn’t get any money, he will break them with lawyer’s fees and court costs. Good for him.
We do expect public figures to take a great deal more intrusion into their private lives and to withstand more criticism than a normal citizen, so maybe we should also allow them to the opportunity to defend their reputation when someone makes a certifiably false statement meant only to do harm.
I originally was concern that the left might learn the wrong lesson here – if you don’t like what someone says about you online, then sue them for a gazillion $$$$.
But maybe the lesson will be – don’t go around trying to tarnish a person’s reputation when they always make you look like an idiot when you try to debate them online.
