9. I once tried to tutor someone with this level of stupidity about math for figuring out how much finished chemical you need to make for treating a house for termites.

   As soon as the next factor was added, all previous givens were forgotten and stabs were made at the answer. Three hours later I told the boss not to ever let his son loose on a termite job by himself. To only let him do what is specifically instructed in the moment (Add this much concentrate to this much water and stir) and to supervise every step of his actions. Including application.

   Boss: Yeah, I knew that. Just wanted to see if you get him over the hump. No else has been able to, either.

   It’s really not hard, but some people are too lazy in the mind to hold more thoughts in their head than a gold fish.

   What gets me about this video is the interviewer was just as clueless.

   They were only off by $999,998.47

   They got lost at the top of the equation. What gets divided by what? That part was too much for them to grasp.

14. I recall in my high school chemistry class (around 1980) the teacher was talking about calculators which were still new. One of his students bought a new calculator, which few could afford at the time. She did a calculation and came up with a number something like the mass of the sun. His point was that when using the calculator you need to have the mental assessment of whether the answer is even in the ballpark. This woman clearly is lacking that.
