Before being allowed to work on the Donald Trump campaign, volunteers have to sign a six page contract full of non-disparage clauses.
A person must agree not to say anything bad about “the Company, Mr. Trump, Any Trump Company, and Family Member, or any Family Member Company or any asset of any of the foregoing own, or product or service of the foregoing.”
The wording of the clause seems to suggest that the terms are for all time.
Legal scholars don’t think the contract would hold up in a court of law since volunteers are providing unpaid service.
Buyer beware
Interesting.
“Legal scholars don’t think the contract would hold up in a court of law since volunteers are providing unpaid service.”
However, when the plaintiff is notoriously litigious and has deep pockets, he could make your life a living hell for several years before he loses the case.
It’s an NDA. Half of what is written in most NDA’s is not enforceable. It’s the threat of legal action and the signature that usually keeps people in line. If other campaigns aren’t doing the same thing I’d be shocked
If a Trump supporter chooses to voluntarily enter into this agreement with the Trump campaign, it is between the two of them. It is no one else’s business…yours or mine. With all of the unconscionable illegal activities ongoing within the DNC, is this really the light we choose to shine on Trump to expose him as immoral and unethical???
Let’s ask Vince Foster what he thinks, shall we?
LOL !!!
No Competitive Services. Until the Non-Compete Cutoff Date you promise and agree not to assist or counsel, directly or indirectly, for compensation or as a volunteer, any person that is a candidate or exploring candidacy for President of the United States other than Mr. Trump and to prevent your employees from doing so.
So if you volunteer for Trump and own a business you better make sure all your employees are also not volunteering for any other candidate. Now that is beyond stupidly funny to put into an NDA.
Better make sure your whole family and remote aunts and uncles only volunteer for Trump because once he owns you he owns you and your entire family….. 😉
The fine print always gets ya with arrogant SOBs like Trump.
It is not what’s fair, it is what the parties agree to. The writer of the NDA can put anything they want into it. If you don’t like it, you don’t sign it.
Pfft.
So? He just want’s to make sure his workers don’t betray him.
AA,
Say it ain’t so. You mean they don’t put a gun to your head? You mean you can’t scratch paragraphs out and initial and then sign it? I can’t tell you how many I’ve done that too.
Some people need to venture out of their caves occasionally.
My employees have to sign a contract also. We have a lot of sensitive material
and R&D going on. And believe me it’s enforceable in a court.
This is right up there with his loyalty oath. I only make one loyalty oath, and that is to the constitution and the United States of America.
if Bernie or Cruz were doing this kind of stuff and Trump wasn’t, you all would be fine with it.
Right?
But Bernie and Cruz are doing it, or they are stupid, what’s your point?
JohnS — You are so full of it. How many “Accept” boxes have you checked in order to install a piece of software or a download?
Loyalty oaths? I hope you don’t have anyone depending on you for any real advice.
BB; you are being intentionally dense.
You fully understand that the issue is not that it is a nondisclosure agreement, everyone uses them, rather it is what is in it and how it is worded.
So, no. Bernie nor Cruz are requiring lifetime support of anyone much less a persons employees.
Nor are they demanding loyalty oaths.
Not even Soetoro went this far with his Obamabots.
“It’s part of doing business”
That’s a Proprietary Information agreement, different animal
OMG!! NBC, The Blaze and the other lowlife media are shouting from their rooftops that Cruz says Trump makes people sign a “loyalty oath!” It’s all over the Google!! Panic in the streets!! Run for your lives!!
Another Ted Cruz lie. I’m so surprised.
Hurry up, minions. Get the ‘news’ while it’s a steaming pile of hot.
AA; I have never seen lifetime admiration terms in software license agreements.
If you aren’t aware of the loyalty oath issue let me know I will dig up the video.
A big deal has been made of it as the way he has people hold their raised hands is reminiscent of what Hitler did while getting his loyalty oaths. I don’t see that connection as a raised hand is far to common.
BB — There’s also the dreaded Intellectual Property Agreement.
Jeeze, some of those opposed to things like that sound downright anti-business. Let’s just send all the rest of our business advantage straight to China and save everyone the trouble.
JohnS — Oh, I see how it is. You can’t get any traction on the NDA he makes his campaign staff sign, so now you’re going to go for the “Trump is Hitler” thing with the hand-raising stuff. Cut it out. It’s stupid.
At Hillary’s shop, they don’t have to sign anything. The potential midnight ride to the park is understood, even by the young ones.
This entire Trump “loyalty oath” buzz, which is being pushed by Cruz, is pathetic. People should be up in arms over the real loyalty pledge the RNC made Trump sign — which they have broken from day one. Why aren’t the anti-Trumpers hopping mad about that? It’s a good question.
AA; The pledge Trump signed had the word ‘loyalty’ in it?
Yes, it was a pledge not an oath. The word “loyalty” was not in it.
Also, Cruz may have mentioned the Trump loyalty oath he is asking of his people, but if so, I haven’t heard him do so. It has been in the news media for a while.
Wow, some folks get so defensive about a simple NDA……..**
** with fine print that binds you to Trump and his campaign for life and that requires none of your employees, relatives, dogs, cats, or other animals ever even look disparagingly at Trump, Trump’s likeness, or anything having to do with Trump lest he take you to court.
But remember this is just an NDA and no one is forced to sign it or even vote for Trump for that matter. Nope, Trump is nothing like a greasy salesman using contracts loaded with fine print, nope nothing like that folks. It’s just standard stuff and all the campaigns do it, so nothing to see here, move along….. 😉
Donald Ducks Another Debate, he’s afraid of Ted Cruz.
I’ll take the greasy salesman over the bible thumping POS lying attorney.
Boom
Why ya gotta bring cartoon characters into this?
Hmmm,
Interesting contrast in arguments;
First:
“The writer of the NDA can put anything they want into it. If you don’t like it, you don’t sign it.”
Then:
“People should be up in arms over the real loyalty pledge the RNC made Trump sign.”
I wonder, is Trump that weak that someone could make him sign something? But I thought he was something new and wasn’t going to be controlled. Hmm. 😉
Yea, that’s the ‘news’ today. Cruz scaring the pants off everyone with Trump’s NDA. I’ve never seen a politician rely so heavily on the ignorance of people over something so mundane. But, then, Cruz isn’t from the business world, so it figures.
Woody — your arguments are half fast.
Ted Cruz’ National Security Team: The coalition includes former Missouri Republican Sen. Jim Talent, former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy, former Assistant Secretary of State Elliott Abrams, retired Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin and Frank Gaffney Jr., president and CEO of the Center for Security Policy.
AA
I can’t wait for Trump to enter into contract negotiations on our behalf with China. Apparently he’s an ass hole and doesn’t play fair. At last, somebody that can come out on top for us and get our jobs back.
Here we go again, more red meat for the anti-Trump bozos. Everytime you people spread this BS, Trump gains more votes then he loses. It’s comical.
Do the conditions of this non-disparage agreement seem reasonable?
Is this a way to treat people who are volunteering their time to your campaign?
Trump says he doesn’t need a National Security Team, he will do it his self because ‘he has a good brain’ LMAO!
By the way, isn’t the disclosure of the non-disclosure agreement a violation of the non-disclosure agreement?
I pledge allegiance to the Trump.
The way you Trumpsters bash Ted Cruz’ Christianity you might want to check and make sure you don’t just hate God.
Dr. Tar,
I would imagine the reality of the situation is Trump has many different NDA’s and related contracts, (I hesitate using the word contract on an NDA) for different levels of employees and vendors. Somebody probably got a hold of one that was not meant for part time campaign help. Who knows. But I posted once before here on this topic, if you ask an attorney to go draft you up an NDA he’ll bring one back with everything on it but the kitchen sink.
True story, back in the day, attorneys use to charge by the written word in contracts. They don’t do that any more but they are still trained to make everything they write as heavy in word content as they can. Part of the problem.
Boom,
Nice, question our Christianity. Seems to me Cruz is a little hypocritical in his.
There is a certain strain of Christendom (more than one, actually) that trains it’s adherents from the ground up that salvation is if God but cannot be received without lifelong fealty and obedience to His purported human intermediaries. That mindset inevitably leaks into other areas of life, manifesting itself particularly during stressed, desperate times.
That is why none of this surprises me one bit. I’d be surprised if it *wasn’t* happening.
*of* God.
Grool; that condition covers the majority of Christendom. A bare majority, but a majority. However, even among them placing the covenant in a secular person is a sin.
I suspect it is reflex rather than deliberate or a fixture of the religious belief.
Hilary’s volunteer contract probably has a clause selling the volunteer’s soul to Hillary and is probably signed in blood.
Someone here said and NDA probably wasn’t enforceable since we’re talking about unpaid volunteers. First, how does anyone know this? Second, even candidates for many tech jobs are required to sign an NDA before they are interviewed by the hiring team, whether they are eventually hired or not.
When Trump gets our jobs back, will we have to work for even less than the Chinese ?
I am self employed.
If my boss weren’t such a sadist he would have fired me long ago.
You are a residential electrician that only caters to rich people that you hate. You’ve said so.
Asking for 95 million friends
Wow, this should be priceless, please explain yourself. I can’t wait.
BB; I could say that you take your pole upstream in search of brown trout and it would be just as accurate as your statement.
I know why you don’t like me.
I never say anything negative about Trump. All I do is point out what he says and does.
Even though you have called me vulgar names and a troll, I have not responded in kind.
I won’t respond in kind.
You, and everyone else know what you are, there is no need to point it out.
That logo looks like a giant asp (puss caterpillar) humping an elephant.
Just sayin’.
😉
JohnS, you are a closet socialist, no, I don’t like you and you don’t like me. I’m good with that.
I’m just having a hard time figuring out why you are sticking up for Cruz instead of Bernie.
Like BB, I have drawn lines through sentences and x-ed out paragraphs in contracts before signing them.
The parts I don’t agree to. Sometimes it’s too ridiculous.
Me the first time:’I can’t agree to that! Thanks for the offer, but no thanks’.
Them: “Just X that part out. We want you.”
My thought: “Huh, it’s that simple.”
Although, I doubt anyone was valuable enough to do that in such a non-crucial role as a generic volunteer.
