Fence Post
Two adult wolves trying to attack a band of sheep grazing on the backside of Shaw Mountain caused a sheep pile-up in a steep gully, killing 143 ewes and lambs, state and federal officials confirmed this week.
The sheep were owned by Wilder sheep rancher Frank Shirts. In an interview with the Idaho Rangeland Resources Commission, Shirts said the wolf attack occurred during the daylight hours, a rarity. His sheep herders saw the two wolves running into the band of sheep and watched as the animals fell into the steep gully to their death, he said.
It’s the largest and worst incident of wolf predation that Shirts has experienced since gray wolves were imported from Canada and released into Central Idaho in 1995, he said. More
Baa-haa-haa-haa-haa.
(That’s not human laughter.)
Seriously, though, there a human analogy in there somewhere. Nazi Germany? Voting in American cities? Lining up for COVID ‘vaccinations?’
I’ve been hunting bear in Northern Idaho for the last few years. The people up there hate the wolves with a burning passion. I don’t blame them. Like Democrats, wolves destroy everything they touch. They kill young elk, moose, mule deer, whitetail deer and bear among other species. When hunting in packs, they are an unstoppable killing machine.
the attackers did not see the wolf-free zone signs
The two wolves should’ve worn sheep’s clothing.
There sure has been an awful lot of “worse (whatever) we’ve ever seen” in the past 18 months for it all to be unintentional.
The ranchers need to follow the cardinal rule of wolf eradication, shoot, shovel and shut up. I had a couple of gray wolves run across I 90 right in front of me from N to S like bats out of hell on the flats just E of Haugan, Mt. one day back in the early 2000’s. I thought they were German Shepherds at first but they were definitely gray wolves after I did a double take and realized that they were wolves. I have only seen one other wolf in all my driving up by Thompson Falls, Mt.
I only have to worry about a coyote carrying off the cat.
This wouldn’t have happened had those sheep had been armed.
Some of these wolves are bigger than a man…..
Scary for sure.Another F*** UP to add to the
Loonngg list of Federal Governments F*** UPS…..
Sheep pile up? Muhammed and Abdul will be on the prowl tonight. Hubba, hubba 🐑🐑🐑
Only doing what wolves do. Wolves will return to a kill weeks or even several months later. Kind of like humans putting food in the freezer. And if the wolves don’t eat, it something else will. A carcass doesn’t usually last long in the wild.
“ Two Great Pyrenees guard dogs that were watching over the sheep herd ran for cover and were not injured”.
Wait, this wasn’t a school in Texas?
The stupid-assed federal government is turning timber rattlers lose in East Texas. The deer hunters can’t kill them fast enough.
