CAINtv:
The same thing liberals never understand.
When Donald Trump announced his choice of Andy Puzder to serve as Secretary of Labor, the predictable response from the left and its media megaphones was that Puzder is “anti-worker” because he has never had much use for unions, and because he doesn’t believe the federal government should be setting the cost of labor artificially high.
That’s not just a philosophical or ideological position. Puzder serves as CEO of CKE Corporation, which is the parent company of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. His duty as CEO is to run the business profitably, much as it was my job as CEO of Godfather’s Pizza to do the same.
When you run a business that relies on largely unskilled labor, you have a tricky balancing act. On the one hand, good customer service is absolutely essential. There are a lot of choices out there for customers who want tasty, convenient and inexpensive food. If you serve them poorly, they’re not going to choose you. So you can’t afford to keep bad employees. Even if they worked for free, they would cost you money by alienating your customers.
On the other end, you have to recognize that unskilled workers can only deliver so much value to a business. That’s not their fault. It’s just the nature of the job they’re being asked to do, and of their relative skill level. A 17-year-old asked to work the counter can probably learn to take orders reasonably well, if only because that’s not a very difficult thing to do. He should be paid fairly for doing a good job, but the $15 an hour that liberal activists want for this type of work cannot possibly be recouped by the business in the form of any value generated by the employee.
“…The same thing liberals never understand….”
1. Unskilled, minimum wage jobs are intended primarily for part-time young adults (i.e. students). They were NEVER intended to support a family or one’s self.
2. Force an employer to increase his labor costs (i.e., increased minimum wage) and he will look for alternatives (i.e., self serve kiosks).
Liberals a dumbshits.

Paraphrasing: “..represents a huge change in the way D.C. views…” The understatement of the century!
When did people aspire to a life of burger flipping? Every job has value but to settle for a lifetime spent not even on the bottom run isn’t saying much about how liberals value the individual.
If you’re willing to pay x per hour and you have applicants such that you’re getting responsible workers then you’re paying a fair wage. If you lower it to x -1 and no one shows to take the job, then you know you’ve reached the market clearing price with the earlier wage.
The purpose of a business is to make a profit, it’s not a social justice mechanism. These jobs were once what was called entry level jobs. TPTB have fucked up the economy so badly with the ACA and other regs, that now these jobs are being sought by adults. Sometimes with children. That’s not the employer’s fault and putting the onus on them to pay a “living wage” will never fly.
You can put a lot of these troubles right onto our education system. Funneling millions of young adults into REeducation centers or colleges, where they rack up huge debt to get some bullshit liberal arts degree is fucking idiocy.
The economy is a sham.
A Chimera.
A Phantasmagorical Absurdity.
A Profound Macabre Dance of Incoherent Foolishness.
Socialism does NOT recognize reality.
Socialism (which has infested our society for 100+ years) is incapable of understanding a “cause and effect.” “action and reaction” fundamental. Socialism only understands the “command” economy, the coercion of economic entities to attempt to achieve the professed aims of the cabal applying that force. And the proven (repeatedly) failure of that application of force to achieve those (fictitiously) stated aims is no deterrent to a new round of lies and deceits to start the process over, again.
They don’t want results: they want power.
And power belongs to whomever wields it.

If the price of gasoline doubled overnight, would you be upset?
Careful. Don’t answer too quickly.
The correct answer should be, “Depends. Why did the price double?”
If the price doubled because it is a revolutionary new blend of gasoline that doubles the mileage of your automobile, I think most rational people wouldn’t mind. The price increased because the value increased.
However, if the gasoline was the same blend as before, there would be good reason to be upset. The price increased when the value did not.
The same goes for employees. Liberals don’t realize that raising the price of an entry-level employee does not raise that employee’s value to the business. If the minimum wage is increased to $15/hour, employers will only retain employees they feel perform $15/hour type of work, which will keep young people and those with low skill levels – the very ones liberals say they want to help – out of jobs.
How is the government setting wages not socialism?
I just can’t imagine 15 dollars an hour going to someone who gets my order wrong because no interest in their work and NO Ingles!
I had 100 times that responsibility which involved math, English, talking angry customers off a ledge, and managing client accounts for 2 dollars less, a few years ago. Yeah, but putting cold fries in a fucking bag is much more important than what I had to do. Go fuck yourselves.
