This millipede does.  Name illacme tobini, after cave biologist Ben Tobin, it is a new species discovered in a Sequoia National Park cave.  Considered one of the leggiest creatures ever found, the animal has body parts of unknown function.

I think they missed a chance for a more memorable scientific name, like bimbi dickus.

No mention of how many they may have stepped on and squished while clopmping around the dark cave.

    Wait.. Beauty is subjective, benefit to humanity is a moving target any day, and if it goes extinct before it’s known, I’d say that’s a statement by Mother Nature herself. Next.

  3. Apparently they’re on a migration run around here. I’ve seen about 10 of them the past day on the garage floor. They’re wandering around looking for something but unable to find it in the garage. Yeah buddy, you’re headed for a pile of metal chips, I don’t think you’re going to like that kind!

    I’ll probably be sweeping their coiled up, dried out carcasses in a few weeks.
