One of my favorite historians, Niall Ferguson, explains in under 6 minutes why the human race aspires to be “Western” in the latest Prager U video. Watch

  1. no, the world does not ‘aspire’ to be Western. the world is envious & jealous of the Western World. their anger ‘aspires’ them to hate. they want nothing more than to tear down that what they cannot achieve or steal

“Western man towers over the rest of the world in ways so large as to be almost inexpressible. It’s Western exploration, science, and conquest that have revealed the world to itself.
Other races feel like subjects of Western power long after colonialism, imperialism, and slavery have disappeared.
The charge of racism puzzles whites who feel not hostility, but only baffled good will, because they don’t grasp what it really means: humiliation.
The white man presents an image of superiority even when he isn’t conscious of it.
    And, superiority excites envy.
Destroying white civilization is the inmost desire of the league of designated victims we call minorities.”

  2. It takes work to aspire to success. That’s not what we had in mind. The parasites of the world want it given to them. Preferably between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. It’s a convenience thing you know. Actually now that I think about it, maybe the hours of 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm. Yeah, that sounds better.

  3. I could name scores of why the west won.

Thomas Earl, Thomas Frank, Timothy Charles, Paul Devin, Anthony Charles, Kim, Tony, David, Charlie, Eric… the list goes on and on.

  4. Seen it first hand. Taking the Sea Sparrow missile to the “Advanced Sea Sparrow”. Damn old missile system. Requirements, gotta move 4 times faster and turn on a dime. During the first conceptual meeting the guy delivering coffee says, “you need to spin that fucker like a bullet”. WTF did he just say? Poor bastard didn’t even get tipped.

  5. The West was second WON when Slavery was completely removed from the language of many people world wide in 1865.

IOW, WE the USA, removed the idea of slavery through the Declaration and the Bill of Rights, that was the first win.

Second win was Manifest Destiny, and so on.

  6. Here is another side of that. We used to drill for oil by drilling a hole in the ground and intersecting a 100 ft pay zone 10,000 under ground. Now we can drill a hole into that same 100 ft pay zone, kick off horizontally and drill another mile or more, continuously, in the same 100 foot pay zone. This certainly overly simplifies the process, but this is another reason we kick ass!

  7. @Bad_Brad – I reckon we can agree both are okay? If anything the West is the for the Searchers.

I live in the…Old East and think abstractly and with freedom and liberties, STILL.

  8. Mr. Bad_Brad respectively,

Yes while I may not go that far East, is the East Bronx east enough for ya? Projects and all? (the Projects for those in Rio Linda are the low buildings, in town, people lived in).

  9. Seems to me the Emancipation Proclamation (not to mention the Civil War) had more to do with ending slavery in the US than the Declaration of Independence or the Bill of Rights as far as documents go. Regardless, the West still kicks ass!

  10. Interesting, isn’t it, that all those countries who fought against the British for “self-rule” are mostly now called “third world”. The single most important point Niall left out was “killer app” called Christianity.

  11. I would love to have Niall Ferguson as my History professor as well as Paul Johnson and Victor Davis Hanson. And Russell Kirk for his invaluable assistance in helping to make me a conservative thru reading his books. And God bless Prager U, may it continue to change one liberal and snowflakes minds one mind at a time.
