CTH: U.S. Attorney General nominee William Barr has been confirmed by the senate. The vote was 54-45 with three democrats voting to support Barr: Kyrsten Sinema (AZ), Doug Jones (AL) and Joe Manchin (WV); with one republican, senator Rand Paul (KY), voting against the nomination.
Now that he is confirmed Barr is officially supervising the special counsel probe of Robert Mueller. It is also likely that after a transition period Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein will depart.
One of Barr’s responsibilities will be to determine what, if anything, to tell congress about the Mueller probe once it is completed. Perhaps the best way to think about the Mueller report is to think about your local police department (detective or DA) doing an investigation on a subject and completing that task.
At the conclusion of the inquiry, perhaps using a grand jury, if there is no determination of criminal wrongdoing – the investigator does not outline the investigation in a report to the general public.
The basic premise behind this standard process is simple. Everyone is innocent unless they can be proven to be guilty.
If everyone who was ever investigated had the internal investigative material made public it would be profoundly unfair to the target. It would be even more unfair if the investigator was allowed to frame a public report, with their own internal biases and innuendo, in lieu of their ability to find criminal wrongdoing. MORE HERE

Except that is exactly what is going to happen here.
A city detective or DA is paid by that municipality and has no political agenda, unlike Mueller who staffed his entire department with anti Trump Democrats, who almost all made sizable contributions to Hillary’s campaign.
Another place where the detective comparison fails; detectives start an investigation when facts already present point to a specific crime possible being committed. Mueller had no such facts present, or even now, it was an investigation in search of a crime.
Even if Mueller finds no evidence of Russian collusion, it’s been 2 years, nobody is going to be satisfied with a short press conference from Mueller saying he found nothing so lets all move on. Everyone is going to want to know what the hell he has been doing for 2 years, and a handful of “process” crimes is not going to cut it.
Krysten Sinema voted for confirmation. That’s kind of surprising. She might not be the best dresser but if she consistently votes against the libs I might like her.
I’d much prefer an Attorney General who has a record of understanding and respecting the Bill of Rights, especially the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments. Barr doesn’t qualify.
frankly, I would have liked to have seen Trump give Whitaker the job
Barr’s a swamp creature
Would you buy a used car from this man?
Meh. I’m not a fan. Sessions was a bust.
I agree with Uncle Al and he’s best friends with Mueller.
He was confirmed with minimal opposition. Tells me all I need to know. He’s gonna suck.
Like you would trust ‘Nucky Thompson brother’.
Just keep him at shoulder’s length, no problem, Eli?
Patsy in the making,,
Trump no dummy
If he isn’t foaming at the mouth to go after Hillary, then I’m not interested.
Wake me up when Comey is in handcuffs and doing the perp walk.
im not saying i support Planned Parenthood Barbie (D- Arizona)- but she was one of the only Democrat women not in all white at the SOTU and she’s been bucking them from the get go.
mrmittens- Sinema wants to keep her AZ job. She’s gonna take some from column A and B for as long as it suits her. She may end up being less of an asshole than Mccain. We’ll see.
