How does paying under a buck at the pump strike you? When was the last time you remember seeing $ .75 a gallon? I imagine when you factor in inflation, this has to be close to just giving it away.
Wisconsin, for some reason, has the lowest prices for gasoline in the nation: Statewide average as of this weekend, $1.21. More Here
We have no oil wells and only one refinery (which blew up a couple of years ago) and not that many Amish driven buggies. Yet, prices have fallen consistently this spring. It defies explanation.
What’s their gas tax? That might have something to do with it. Here in Washington we probably have at least 75 cents of tax per gallon, hell maybe more.
Ghost and I did a road trip in 1993 from Arizona back to NY and I remember gas was $.93 in Kansas. We were in a not very nice neighborhood and looking for a place to stay. LOL! Crazy how you remember things. I know gas prices didn’t go over $.98 to all the states we went through. Times have changed!
We moved to a new house in May of 1974. On the route between the houses there was an intersection with gas stations on each corner. Gas was 19 cents.
Camels.
They make the gas from cheese. It’s biofuel and smells like Limburger. No one would spend more than a dollar a gallon for that.
Gas in my town is 120.9 on the north end of town, which is considered the prosperous end with the nice houses and manicured lawns. The middle and south end is 139.9 where the middle class and the rentals are. We’re talking a four mile difference. Figure that one out.
25 years ago stations posted the federal and state taxes per gallon on each pump.
The state put an end to that.
All fuel would be cheaper if they bankrupted the ethanol industry and let them make booze instead. Then booze might be cheaper. I’ve been a fan of cheaper booze for many years now……It keeps viruses and the ruematize down…..
Is there a terminal end of a pipeline there?
(a pipeline running in to supply refineries and/or depots along the way that ends there – not delivered yet means they need to dump it so the gas or whatever it;s transporting keeps flowing and the pipeline stays functional)
I remember paying just under a buck in rural Maryland in 1998, when the price of oil dropped down to something like $16 per barrel.
At Costco, members were paying .92 cents per gallon, and you get money back on your Costco credit card!!!
I can remember when I was a kid in Detroit during the gas wars (this is before the riots) it was was 9 cents a gallon. Once the riots hit Molotov cocktails got a lot more expensive.
it’s Wisconsin … they ride dairy cows
git along, little doggie
They’re giving it away because the computer told them to ship it there back in January… And then…
I need to find a way to make money second guessing the software written in the 80’s…
Be alert! This is the perfect time for democrats to impose their carbon taxes on gas, since we will be less likely to notice.
Democrats want to expand from consumption taxes to charging you per the miles you drive in your car.
While also keeping the consumption tax.
Hold out until they start paying you 25¢ for every gallon you put in your tank. Before the gas goes bad in the station tank.
Dang it’s still $1.70 in Durham NC!
