A black family fired an independent contractor they had hired for a job after he drove to their home with a giant Confederate flag affixed to his truck.
Allison and Zeke Brown of Atlanta, Georgia hired the man, whose name is Michael, to replace the brakes on their golf cart. When he arrived at their home on Saturday, an enormous rebel flag was attached to his truck.
Initially unaware of Michael’s arrival, Allison was cleaning out her closet when Zeke walked into their bedroom and said, “God is testing me.”
Allison tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “When my husband told me about the flag, I said, ‘Let me handle this,’” adding that their college-aged son fled the house, anticipating his mother’s reaction.
“I didn’t want to be the ‘angry black woman’ but I wanted him to learn and feel that bottom-line loss,” she says. “You don’t go to Germany and wave the Nazi flag. It’s the same thing.”
Zeke, a manager at a health care tech company, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that over the course of three days, he chatted with the man about work logistics over Facebook messenger. “He hadn’t been disrespectful prior, so seeing the flag did not fit my preconceptions,” he says. “The flag was absurd — I had to walk back into the house to calm myself down.”
After Michael left, he messaged Zeke saying, “I didn’t know the flag offended y’all.”
Strange that the racist didn’t arrive and say, “I don’t fix no golf cart brakes for no negroes.” Isn’t that the way actual racism would work?
i don’t see the Confederate flag as a hate symbol, but some people do. Having said that, the contractor is flying it as a political statement. That’s not good business, obviously. Why isn’t he flying the US Flag, by the way?
To be honest with you, if he pulled up in my driveway flying the Confederate flag, I may find another business as well.

What I was expecting when i clicked was a little decal, maybe a small flag. Nope. Flag was stupid oversized. The woman was respectful and polite. The dude with the flag was being provocative.

I had a black womanhood into my office with chest pain and desired to know if it was her heart. I did a very through analysis and said there was some cause for concern. I told her that she would need a stress test, but as she had an Obama care policy, I did not know if the insurance would pay. She reported me for saying bad things about Obama. P.S. A black guy worked on my car today and fixed it. I gave him a $20 tip and he was flabbergasted that I gave him some money. He has full custody of his 10 year old daughter, I told him to take her out to dinner.

Most people who fly the TN Battle Flag do it out of pride for southern culture and as a way to thumb their nose at an overreaching federal government. A good friend once advised me that I should never turn down work. But if I really didn’t want to do the job just quote them a high price they’d be unwilling to pay.
( he did that when his former employer called and asked him to build 12 electronic gadgets for a military contract. .He quoted them $250k. Figuring they’d never pay him that much. After a long pause, but that’s about 4x the cost to build them when you worked here. I know, but I don’t work there anymore. Oh, I will get back to you. He figured they’d hire someone else, but they were willing to pay him the amount he asked for. So he reluctantly did the work. But, still not a bad deal to make $250k after retiring for 12 months work. So his strategy backfired. He thought he wouldn’t need to quote them a higher price, and later said he should have quoted them $350k)
So I’m thinking this contractor didn’t want the work. But rather than declining the work or quoting a high price they’d reject, or might not reject, to do the work. He chose to use a different method that might be a sure thing. He showed up with the flag he suspected would offend them. And they’d send him packing.
Looks like bullshit to me. He was parked perfectly for the flag to show up on the screen as he drove away. In reality that rag wouldn’t have stayed attached at any speed as he slooooowly drove away. And the video being shot from the family’s side? Probably staged like pretty much the majority of “hate” incidents.

Originally I was from the part of South Florida where you had to drive north to get to the South. I see maybe one of those guys once a year. But I do see a fair amount of discreet tasteful bumper stickers with a Rebel Flag that says “Heritage, Not Hate”.
